I didn't really give it much thought at the time.

My previous car was new from Motorpoint, UK spec imported from Belgium. These come with a two year warranty only.

The car went in for the work about a month before expiry, but the dealer said Ford said it had expired nine months earlier.

Seems that a batch of cars had been sold to a dealer in Belgium, who held them for several months then sold them to Motorpoint. In those circumstances, the warranty starts from the date Ford sell to the original Belgian dealer.

Accoring to Ford, this is how warranties work in Belgium.

But I have to wonder if they were bullshitting to nail me for buying an import.

That would be an interesting exercise...

I've just edited my last post as it was ambiguous. First dealer was in Belgium.

Reg was FJ53 ***, vin (from a hand written document) WF***********

Just getting rid of sensitive info mate , not a good idea to post it on a public forum

So, it really is an import which had a 24 month warranty, even if it had of been a UK supplied vehicle the warranty coverage would have expired. But it looks like it had a warranty repair by Polar motor company this year

Holy kipper...how did you do that?

I bought it new in September 2003.

Bit of a rip off, starting the warranty in October 2002. I think the EU monkeys would have something to say about that.

How did it have a Ford warranty claim this year? I part exchanged it into a Ford dealer, who passed it immediately to an independent trader.

There must have been a former keeper registered on the documents, so in basic terms you didn't buy it new.

I can see things

The warranty repair was to the gear selector linkage, can't remeber the date off the top of my head though.

But how did it achieve a warranty claim out of date?

First registered keeper in UK was a Motorpoint company, from whom I bought it.

Saw it in the compound when it arrived at Motorpoint, no doubt about its virginity.

if FMC made a goodwill contribution towards a repair, it'll show up as a warranty repair.

Goodwill can be offered towards the cost of repair IF the vehicle meets a set critria.

Sold 16/8/05, 65499 miles...

Thought I'd done a lot more than that...I'm easily confused

So it's done 5000 miles in 11 months...?

Sounds OK...
