I fitted them to mine - also recall they weren't cheap.

The Ford solution it to remove the grille and then screw it through to secure it banghead

You can still get the foam blocks, but they're Titanium X specific for some reason. If you put an ST220 chassis number in to Ford E-cat they don't show as applicable, but you can get around it.

I think that was the case when I got them. Although by memory they were shown as zetec s parts.

Another big thumbs up for the ST220 from me. Had mine just over a year now and despite its many problems I love it! The v6 spooling up is so addictive and it's finally made me appreciate heated seats wink

Off to the knackered ST220 thread now! I did try to join mondeostoc; it allowed me to register but not log in and so far admin have not responded to my plea for help frown

Good stuff, like the fella's above say it does tick all the boxes. Being a bit of a Ford fan and wanting one for a long time it was the immediate go to car for my budget and having moved from a pretty ratty ST200,12 years after it left the factory and nearly 2 years into my ownership it still feels fresh.

I bought an '04 in 2007, and kept it for nearly seven years - the best car I've ever owned. I only got rid of it when rust started to become a problem on the wheel arches and the roof (a garage took it for a test-drive without locking the bonnet, and the repair work was evidently poor). I regret selling it though, and found myself wishing I'd payed to get some decent bodywork done to it.

The worst part was I sold it to a garage over 70 miles from my house, and then someone from the rural town where I work promptly travelled over there and bought it, so I kept seeing it - was like a dagger in my heart every time frown Not seen it for a year or two now, so god knows where it's ended up - I just hope it's being cared for!

I'm picking up a blue 2002 ST220 on 135k on wednesday, no rust at all, rear bumper has popped out mildly on one side and it's got a scrape on the front wing, thats all I could find wrong with it.....all mine for £1200! Didn't even try and bargain, just seemed unfair to even try!

I expect a million and one faults I couldnt see!

Thanks. I plan to keep the car for a while and use it as the family bus - with maybe the odd track day. So maintenance is key. (And yes, the DMF wasn't exactly cheap - although a client of mine helped me out)

I took a chance on the car as it was for sale (with the EML on) for only £2.5k. It turned out to be a breather pipe causing the problem, which only cost around £35 from Ford.

Whilst in my ownership I've done the following:

£35 Breather pipe
£40 replacement jacking point covers (still not fitted!)
£700 DMF/starter/clutch fitting
£125 Own servicing including plugs
£175 Rear wheel bearings
£500 Clutch pipe/wheel refurb + 2 new tyres (potenzas)

So, £4075 spent so far, including purchase, which I don't think is too bad at all.

All I 'need' in the short term is the honeycomb trim which sits at the base of the rear bumper.
Update on costs to date:

£35 Breather pipe
£40 replacement jacking point covers (still not fitted!)
£700 DMF/starter/clutch fitting
£180 Own servicing including plugs
£175 Rear wheel bearings
£500 Clutch pipe/wheel refurb + 2 new tyres (potenzas)
£60 2nd set of plugs as one had a hairline crack.
£105 2x tyres

£4295 including purchase. Current mileage 125,500, with everything functioning correctly... and that's where my ownership ends. I part ex'd the car last weekend for something with fewer miles, as I'm racking them up at the moment.

Taking the part ex into account, total cost of ownership not including fuel was £2795. That works out at 7 pence per mile, based on total mileage of 38,000. Including the fuel, running cost are around 28 pence per mile.

As much as I'm looking forward to the new vehicle, EJ06 YMD has completely exceeded my expectations. The ST220 is certainly Ford's hidden gem, which I would not hesitate in recommending.

Picked it up today, very happy, needs new pads and discs as these ones seem to be a bit wavy and causing a rumbling through the pedal, winter tyres on the front are making a helluva roar aswell, probably change them.

Im getting a grumbling through the steering wheel when you turn it at 30-40mph+, any idea what this is, steering pump on its way out?

I think the time has come to part with my ST220.

No reason other than the fact i've only driven it a handful of times in the past year. It's great everytime i do drive it and nothing comes close to that V6 noise and silky smoothness.

Few tweaks -

Dreamscience 97 tune
JP Exhaust
Custom K&N induction
Focus ST225 front brakes
Eibach springs
Polybushed rear subframe
Braided brake lines

Otherwise standard. Done 80k, flies through the MOT every year. I should hang onto it but don't really have the space any more. Thinking £2k ? Owned over 5 years now.

It does indeed! The sales prices appear to be all over at the moment and it's difficult to make direct comparisons.I'd be tempted to pitch it just short of £3k and see what happens. I reckon people will still pay good money for a good'un.

If I'd not part ex'd, I would have put mine up for £2k with 125,500 on the clock and a good number of scuffs and body scratches, with wheels which need refurbishing. The interior on mine is immaculate, with the car being completely standard.

I'll pitch it a bit higher then. It really is a case of what people will pay, rather than what it's worth on paper. These cars are getting very doggy now and mechanically neglected and it's had tons of money spent on it, including a new gearbox and clutch a couple of years ago, all the usual breather pipes etc

I sold mine for £2250 (granted, in 2014) and that had about 115k on. Cosmetically very good, mechanically good but not perfect (oil leak, occasionally noisy suspension).

Yours is worth more than £2k I'd expect.

Nothing like undervaluing your own car. £2k means £1600 to some chancers but even at £2k it'll sell straight away and be sold on later at a profit.

Well this is a bugger, a I know these engines are oil sensitive and take about 5.7l, but stupidly didnt check the oil when I bought it,

It wasn't even on the dipstick yesterday and took about 2.3 ltrs to bring it up to full, meaning only about 3.2 ltrs in it.

There are no odd sounds but have i fooked it irrepairably?

Been 5000 miles since last MOT so I can assume it was last checked then, so thats not the worst oil loss ive ever seen, infact thats 500ml a 1000 miles.

Now i will live in fear of a diesel clatter coming in!

The difference is, i know the trade value. One day, these cars will fetch half decent money, but for now most people won't pay that even for the right car. I'll probably hang on for a bit longer..
