I am glad to hear that they are committed to hear that they are planing on TVR returning back to Le Man as I am a Le Man fan, been a few times now and was there when TVR was last there, Les Edgar said that the new TVR will be Le Man based so they can enter a car that will be as close as a road car as per ACO requirements for GT entries, he said that the new TVR will be very aero which is good, the engine and chassis are in place, they are testing in wind tunnels and changing the design constantly hence the reason why they have not released the design as yet until it is finalised, obviously the road going TVR will not be as radical as the Le Man entry, as he said they will work backwards from the Le Man car to get to a road going version, the difference between the new TVR and the old TVR is that you will only be able to have a choice of colours for the exterior and interior which I am not sure about as most TVR,s are unique but I suppose it makes financial sense I suppose, you will also get safety features such as air bags, abs due to health and safety but we all new that
It all sounds positive so, I am looking forward to seeing the final car

I now have a 991 GT3 and the flappy paddle system is a must for me now, even thinking of putting my Sagaris up for sale,
Below was a post made by another Sagaris owner a few months ago and I agree with him 100%
"I was a die hard manual fan at one point, TVR's/Noble etc and analogue beasts were my choice but those days are now gone for me, I refused to do the high tech thing but last year thought I'd dip my toe and bought a Speciale, then an LP640 with an older single clutch system (which is slow but still much better and faster than using a gearstick), it adds so much excitement to a fast car with the brutal gearchange of a paddle system.
The final nail in the coffin was a 10 day euro trip in the Speciale, it was easy to drive, fast, fun and comfortable, largely down to the gearbox. All the other cars struggled with heat, gearbox's seizing up, and people crying about a sore clutch leg/foot. We covered 3000 miles and I didn't have a single thing to complain about (other than my air con being too cold), the first of about 8 trips I've done over the years where this was the case. As a consequence I'm selling the Sagaris. Appreciate a manual in the right classic but modern sports cars need to embrace the flappy paddles. "

As I asked him the question about pricing I thought he replied the LE would likely be high £70k's not exceeding £80k but with all the options as 'stamdard' would represent a 10% discount compared to specifying seperately for a configurable car.....
As he said with power/gearing good for a theoretical 230 mph+ (200 mph likely actual figure) I am very excited at the unveil in Dec 15/Jan 2016 (est.).

All good news, making the right noises about time line, getting me quite excited. Really like the idea of a LM GT car reverse engineered into the road going version rather than the other way around. Shows they are applying a good thought process to what they are doing.
Understand the comments about a DSG type box, but to be fair not something that can be done easily and keep it affordable, apart from buying it in, even then it's probably going to add £?k on top of a conventional box. I suspect the race car will run a sequential and they will leave enough room in the transmission tunnel for a variety of different boxes, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's not offered at a (much) later date as an option.

Other details were
A side exiting exhaust like the Merc SLR, because of the flat bottom for aero/ground effect.
I thought he said configurable price would be late 60's (i.e. take every option off, buy the base model. Launch edition would be fully specified with some options making them unique models. Of the 300 Launch editions ordered, only one has been asked to be configurable.
The engine is being designed as a fully powered race engine for Le Man and will then be detuned for production. I read into that that major power gains would be possible from the basic engine.
Traction control came as part of most modern engines ECU so would be included. The engine and power train is already built and he did say there is a test vehicle running around with these in for long term testing and that without the TC turned on it just smokes the rear wheels, fast launch isn't possible.
The major mechanicals are already completed but all the ancillaries are taking time, so the body design isn't finalised, but will have a unique recognisable rear end, which is why no sketch images have been shown of it.
They are planning a major announcement, I think he said in November. Full production is still currently on plan for second half of 2017. They are planning a race series, similar to the Tuscan series.
Production will be uk based, they have 3 possible locations, with the favourite as mentioned near a racetrack. Customers can collect cars from the TVR network dealers, or from the Factory, where they will be shown how to drive the car. As mentioned, Les said all TVR need is a large warehouse as it's a circular production line of 17 stations hand building the cars.
Weight was mentioned as 1100kg with the race car lighter.
Sorry if I've mixed some of that up with the talk and with private conversation. I got chatting to Les over a coffee and boy can he talk, as others also found out.
Seems a genuine, likeable person with a passion for the brand and some strong ideas.

But I heard the remark about the chap who has ordered twice and cancelled twice. I Know who the twerp is but what is the logic in behaving like that?
Frankly he just seems to be highlighting the general belief that for TVR to succeed going forward he must be kept well and truly away and have nothing to do with it. Far too divisive and bitter.
