It's not a Golf though. That's a far too Germanic way of thinking. TVRs were always about passion. Probably why the factory got away with sending them out the door with any old crap set up. Yes, the world has evolved but those first buyers can't be knocked. They are the ones with both the passion and faith the company needs to survive. Hopefully those who think more like an accountant will then be able to do their test driving and make their informed decisions and just worry about selecting the right interior to match their string backed driving gloves.
BS - I'm way down the queue, cars will be on the road, probably a yr before mine gets built (production likely into late 2018.) So Not willing to part with any more cash, until I have driven one, and pay any more money until just before they start production. Passion get people so far, and the string backed gloves quip is utterly uncalled for..Edited by BJWoods on Monday 9th May 09:59
The fact remains that without the first wave of buyers who are placing passion and belief ahead of common sense there won't be any new car for you to test drive.

fine - more fool they - TVR does not need a not a true scotsman fallacy for TVR ownership.. nor will I or I expect many other commit to handing over more money, for a production date, over 18 months away, (which would for me probably end of 2018). I have a deposit, if in the summer we are asked to commit to losing the deposit, or handing over more cash I'll pull out. That sort of passion is for the rich, which I am not. No BJ, I meant heart over head to buy a TVR in the first place. The safe logical purchase is a 911 or Audi R8, that's what using your head to buy a performance car does. Buying with your heart changes things because I love my TVR. The design is bold, outlandish and the performance is bonkers. It's a car that gets far more positive attention than the porker ever will. And my Tuscan has been just as reliable as the 911.
the safe purchase is that I expect TVR to build a better car, more in tune with what I want, high power to weight, light, not burdened by electronics, etc, stunning design, etc compared to a boring 911, etcBJWoods said:

Speaking to Les and the Finance director yesterday, they will show the car to deposit holders in the summer. At which point you have two weeks to decide if you wish to have your deposit back. At no point have they suggested you have to pay more money this summer.
Where have you heard they have?

Why make me decide then, assuming no further down payment required, until later on?Speaking to Les and the Finance director yesterday, they will show the car to deposit holders in the summer. It all depends what actually 'showing' means - just exterior?, interior?, etc. will Performance be finalized weight/power, etc, spec to be finalised, etc. prices to be finalised.
and personally, I would like to drive an example (given I'm way down the list, not an issue?)
why can't they keep the deposits, until people have had a go in the car. I understand perhaps for those 1st in the queue, or near to when production starts
I'm way down the list, production won't be until late 2018 for me probably, so why make me choose now, car un-driven. (pre-production would do, press car, etc)
Will the interior be finalized by the time of showing ( ie will we just see the exterior) will we have to choose before we've even seen what the interior is like.
Lots being said to various people on the stand, why not send an email to all the depositors now, with all this new information collated

I'm way down the list...
Well, no your not, you're guessing you are - positions on the list won't be finalised until people decide to whether to take their deposits back or not. It might be you're currently position 200 but if the 199 people before you take their deposits back.BJWoods said:

Did you go down to take to them? As a depositor you'd have the opportunity of a free ticket (£20 on the day). Did you go to talk to them?
Why did you put your deposit down? As an investment or because you wanted the car? If it's because you wanted the car, with all the additional information thats coming out, whats changed your opinion to wanting the car?

i put my deposit down late, so yes I am way down the list, and if all the people pull out before me, it's likely I would too! what do they know!
Given that the order of the list will be decide on the date you put it down, and assumptions most weren't speculatersand most won't pull out, I'm going to assume, 2018, plus I ASKED based on those assumptions.
I expressed an interest, with the deposit, based on limited information (and faith/hope).. if the want to firm things up, ie people make a decision, they need to firm up the actual spec - ie an official spec ( ie a min power to weight ratio, how much, etc, and a look at the exterior and interior would be nice)

So you put your deposit down based on a really rough, artist impression and a promise of something. So whats changed between then and now for you?i put my deposit down late, so yes I am way down the list,
I am expecting to see the car, inside and out, and have firm(er) details on spec/price,etc
Cheers for the update Dave, didn't go myself yesterday as I didn't fancy staring at a blanket with no guaranty that there would be anyone to discuss the new car with in any meaningful Way.
Went for a long blat and had a BBQ instead!
From your figures the car must be putting out high 400's in the bhp steaks, nothing startling for the Coyote that's been breathed on by Cosworth, I'd be disappointed down the pub if it doesn't start with a 5 tbh. Also as the new team are more media savvy claiming 500bhp always reads better than 499bhp in a headline...
Looking forward to the clinic in summer...
