I was thinking they should rename this car the TVR Casper

but then I spotted it on the road last week whilst in the US:-

Thus the new name of TVR Tumbleweed

I must admit, as an onlooker the lack of progress has been frustrating (never put my name down as (sorry folks but it's my opinion) the front is fugly as hell).
For those who have put deposits down, it must be worse because whilst you're waiting for something to happen, plenty of viable alternatives are appearing on the market (like the new mid-engined Corvette at $60k)

Be interesting to see what the upcoming Evo article has to say about the loss of TVR. Is it click bait referring to the original crew or do they know something’s afoot.

It sure is. But even more frustrating is the fact, that the age of gas-guzzling, big V8s will be ending forever sooner than most of us think.

bullitt can you be more specific about this ‘sooner than most of us think’ that you say??? Fact is, there’s a zombie apocalypse coming, and I for one have been investing in helicopter flying lessons. You may have noticed that escape from the zombie hoards often features a helicopter and the fleeing saddos invariably include a character that just happens to be a chopper pilot.. whilst this may be ‘just’ fiction I’m taking no chances...

And.. should the apocalypse not be of a zombie nature we may still be faced with a Mad Max future... and this is where our V8 monsters will win the day... bring it on I say, I’m already growing vegetables and next month I’m buying pegs. Sorry, pigs.

Pigs are going to be banned along with all the other eating of animals. The weather boffins are saying banning engines and holidays won’t cut it.

It’s basically back to seeds and berries next and hopefully some kind of clean future energy will appear, that hasn’t really been invented yet.

People like cars though, there will still be some kind of cool ways of getting around, they just won’t have petrol engines.

Bring on the apocalypse smile Another excuse to post supercharged Hemi porn. Monster V8s are still alive and kicking.

In truth I still would prefer to have had a new TVR in the garage, but I wouldn’t have done 3000+ miles in the first 4 weeks - commuting, shopping, long trips, up to the curry house and generally being a hooligan. Jeez this thing is stupidly fast, but sufficiently inconspicuous that barely a journey goes by without being able to use full throttle now and again. Zombies beware.

But if I had any doubts that getting my deposit back might have been a bad move or premature they’re well and truly dispelled now. I though it was shocking that no information was forthcoming 6 months ago; the continued silence is just treating the (few?) remaining deposit holders with contempt.

I don’t really know why they are holding off making an announcement, there must be something to say either way. I wonder whether it is because they have a factory allocated and Welsh Government backing, and perhaps it would be hugely embarrassing all round to admit the project has stalled (if it has). From the lack of updates and no testing/certification of the car being done, and absolutely no project timescales to an eventual car hitting the road, (and depositors cancelling), it seems very likely to be the case.

Call me cynical but I am expecting the next press release to be around 31 October when the announcement can get lost amongst other higher profile news items.

Good news you’ve found your ideal alternative !

Contempt it’s become now so this thread is dying - it was full of excitement and anticipation once, championed by ardent fans and brought a spring in the step of many a devotee. There’s been nothing of real note this year so we papered over the cracks for a while but that’s worn thin as has patience. A sad end with not even a murmur from TVR to at least fess up to the PR comms debacle we’ve witnessed. If it all gears up again then good luck to them but I won’t be retuning their calls. That’ll show em.

Mate, great taste in movies, i admit !! I'll throw in a bit of the Book of Eli ? Problem is, these are movies are all totally unrealistic. Not the zombie part, but see, those damn helicopters are so bhy, the german army doesn't own a flying one. Granted, we don't have diving (diving yes, but resurfacing a problem) submarines either and we need the Russians to haul stuff for us (NOT a winning strategy in a direct conflict with them !), but we definitely should know better.

Better rethink that zombie strategy, heli won't save ya !

Looks like Russell was asking all the right questions.

article said:
Shadow Economy Secretary Russell George has called for assurances from the Welsh Government that taxpayer money is being properly safeguarded.

He said: “We need to see tangible evidence that this investment represents value for money.”

“The prestige of the TVR badge is one thing – and there is understandable excitement around their decision to locate in Wales.

“However, we need to see the jobs that were promised, and as major shareholders in the company the Welsh public will want to see genuine progress.

“Ultimately, commercial common sense dictates that there must be an economic benefit to this spending.

“Millions of pounds have been invested in TVR, and the Welsh Government must ensure that this exciting project doesn’t turn into another disappointment for the people of Blaenau Gwent.”

Not a lot is adding up here as the story seems to change from one report to another.

About things not adding up...I thought the Welsh were 3% shareholders....not sure how 3 % = major.
