Have been considering buying a Cerbie for some time (first car, hence no NCB) but have been put off by the insurance - GBP 4500 (okay, it's in London) was one quote I got. My latest plan is to leave the beauty at my parents in the Midlands and get the train to pick it up and hurtle back down. Sounds daft (and it would mean I wouldn't be able to drive it as often as I wanted - terrible waste), but not half as daft as paying almost five grand for insurance. Anyone know a good insurance company for people in my situation (25, 0 NCB, license for 7 yrs, central London but could keep it in Lincolnshire if nec.)???

Mannings - Mannings used to back their TvR Insurance off with Independent Insurance, who recently went bust. They have had to move all the current policies over the Cornhill insurance. I had a policy with Independent and when Cornhill took over I had to pay an additional £160 to cover the rest of my insurance policy (there was 3 months left to run). Cornhill have committed to renew my policy next year at the same price I was paying with Independent last year, so at least my renewal will not involve an increase in price.

Griff girl, how much was your insurance in total, I was well impressed with my 495 effort, everyone else wanted around 850. Im suspecting they are offering very low quotes to get people to carry on insuring with them, then increase the premium the following year.

I was with Peart last year, renewal was ~£780. Previuos year ~£750 Griff 500, 98S, garaged, full ncd, RG10 postcode 5000 miles policy. This year have gone to Manning, £560. Maybe next year they won't be as competitive. In the last 9 years I've changed insurance company in all but one year, but have gone back a year or two later, to find the best quote. I guess it's just the nature of the insurance industry, different companies, different risks, different promotions, year on year. Try.... Cheam Insurance Manning Privledge Peart Sunninghill A-One In any one year one of these will probably offer the best quote, for indivdual circumstances. Probably not worth while chasing arround the rest, norwhich union, aa, diect line, etc. B

My insurance is about £490 (Griff 500), London Area, garaged, unlimited mileage - I thought it was pretty good considering the points I have on my licence! Edited by griff girl on Friday 14th September 12:38
