Marshy, interested in why you think a Chimp is more well matched against a Cerbie? The latter is quicker in a straight line, has miles better brakes, more grip, longer wheelbase, etc...

Yeah, I don't get that either. Come on Marshy, I have done many track days, Duxford etc. and seen Cerbies p*ss all over Chims and Griff's. That's why I bought one. They get to 100mph 3 seconds quicker and corner much better too. I loved my Griff but the Cerbie was miles quicker. The Tamora is one step further, handling wise, thats why I've ordered one.
Missed having the roof off in the Cerb though.
Have you driven a Cerbie???

Marshy point taken the driver does make a lot of difference, but you dont have to be a total nutter to get the best out of a Cerbera. It was my first track day and my 1996 4.2 Cerb kept up or passed almost every thing.
However the pros make most people look slow no matter what they are driving.

For chrissakes read what I said. My point was that the driver at the wheel can be a great equaliser when it comes to cars. Perhaps all the cerbie drivers that have been at the same track days as me have been crap, or perhaps I'm a better driver than I think I am. At no time did I say that a chimaera is better than a cerbie.

Please don't put words into my mouth, especially when I'm suffering from the mother of all hangovers.

Agreed mate. I took my cerby to Duxford this year and destroyed everything except Shortys Tuscan R. and I wasn't a million miles away from him!! however put us on a circuit and he would beat me in a Griff/Chim anything!!
However as I say, the Cerbera is quicker and I should know because I have owned both. i've just ordered a Tamora because it handles so well, the roof comes off,(which I missed in the Cerb)and the power is very close to the Cerb. Lets face it no TVR is slow, but some are quicker than others, better handling, more torquey low down etc.etc.

Sorry marshy maybe I got the wrong end of the stick mate...
yeah, apache. I can't beleive TVR bring out a new cheaper car that goes like stink, looks like a griff at the front, but because it's arse isn't pretty (due to being put in a wind tunnel and built for go not show) everyone starts slagging it off. You and I drove it on saturday didn't we? was it the boll*x or what??

Even Ted changed his mind when he had driven it.

I think Marshy was trying to suggest that the difference between a 500 Chimaera and a Cerbie is the difference between "Sweet Jesus" and "f***king 'ell". The difference between driver abilities is often much larger!

Pretty well all TVR's are staggeringly fast, and having been chauffered by several pros in my own car at trackdays I can vouch that even a "slow" 500 Chimaera is capable of speeds that can induce awe in the most jaded.

The skill level required to fully exploit this level of performance is sadly well above that of the average owner, as anyone who has been on a trackday will attest.

Absolutely marvellous, completely accurate and wonderfully succinct!
