My S6's engine has left the building....
Discussion
Hazy,
Sorry to hear this, moi take the p155?
As before I bought a 996 as i thought it worth sacrificing 10-20% of the performance for 90% of the probs.
I am sure when i am 60 it will be the Cerb i'll look back upon with fond memories, by which time I will have forgotton about the expense and grief.
At least you will get it back for Spring / Summer! It is worth putting a call in to the factory as they book the engines in and you can then at least get updates, rather than it sitting around in the dealer for weeks in bits!
Bennno
RRTuscan,
I'm not happy at all about what I'm looking at paying for. I wrote to TVR to explain that as this Speed Six engine problem seemed to be a known manufacturing problem that they should really be paying for the engine to be taken out and fitted again.
This was about a month ago and they didn't even bother to reply.
The fact that the dealer didn't seem to mind that they had tucked me up with a £40,000 car that had gone horribly wrong just months after buying it didn't help either. I can't beleive they wouldn't even give me a run-around !
Hazy,
It was a top end rebuild on mine, I don't think I'll be lucky enough to get a new engine. I'll let you know full details about what went wrong when I get it back.

Did you spend long in the area? If so, it may be worth getting your G.P. to check your cardiovascular fitness!! What with deep fried Mars bars & habitual 'Chippy Teas', I'm told we have one of the worst diets in the country.

UPDATE!
Started car this morning to put it outside for dealer to collect, knocking like a good 'un still.
Dealer rang 10 mins ago.....can't hear anything amiss at all!!!!!!!!
They suggested it was the exhaust knocking on the body.....I think not! I blew my race bike to bits last year - well versed in terminal noises from highly strung engines!
Still I'll be well pleased if she's OK. It'll back to business as usual baiting Bennno about his Porker with a bit of luck!

Excellent news hope that it is only some gremlin and not the lump.
Not so sure if I would have the guts to start any car to get it out of the garage after previously hearing 'terminal' noise's though....

Oh dear, that's worrying. Could be a stuck valve/lifter or something that has come free again?
Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)
Harry.....not bothered about starting the car at all. In fact as I said earlier, it had crossed my mind whether to rev the engine to destruction to ENSURE fitment of a new lump rather than risk a (unsuccessful??) repair.
Peter..... Ishared your thoughts today but I don't think this is the case because the engine was sweet on tickover and only started to knock under load leading me to summize bottom end problems.
It won't get another chance if it rattles again. I'll make sure of that....I'll teach it to make me look a tw@t!

The Tamora engine comes with a 2 year warranty - that must mean that the factory feel that either the lesser stress of the 3.6 engine is going to make it more reliable, or they are confident that speed6 problems are all related to older engines; another one has unfortunately surfaced with poor old Hazy's car.
I hope your dealer is right, Hazy, and there is nowt wrong...
