So just a quick update. I've agreed a sale on the car and received a deposit with collection and final payment to be arranged in due course.

Good work. Was quite tempted myself, but didnt move/think fast enough.

Looks a loverly car, and I must say I really liked the colour and interior.

Just a bit.
The colour issue does seem to be a problem.
The average age of a TVR owner is probably 20 years plus from the days when someone chose this colour.
It’s a young colour maybe and then the one off interior though looks quality also a very personal taste thing.

All I know is all the guys doing body offs are now putting them back on and flogging em off as is biggrin

If I was the buyer I’d be considering the body and chassis work as my 16k and I got a top line engine for free rofl

I’m sure everyone’s got what they want which is good news wink

Thanks all. The new owner has arranged for a low loader collection for tomorrow morning.

He is a keen petrolhead and really pleased it is going to a good appreciative home.

I could have sold the car at least 4 times but had to prioritise an order. I'm happy with the sale and price. I'm not greedy and prefer to have a nice easy hassle free sale.

I do think it is a great car though and cracking VFM.

I have been looking to sell this in the background for some time and it was on Collecting Cars for some time. It was only until I put it on FaceBook and even then it didn't gather pace until I created a FaceBook marketplace ad and also the PH ad. The people suddenly started to wake up and then there was a rush it seemed.

Excellent news Dean - didn't think it would take long.

Now for some better weather (admittedly no snow up here) and we can start to enjoy our cars again!!!

Having sold the Tam back in September these “what to replace” threads always catch my interest, but this one has me a bit confused and apologies if I’ve missed the explanation, but in your opening post you basically say that the car is too powerful and you’re not comfortable driving it, yet 14 pages on you’ve bought a car with 170bhp more, just interested to understand what changed smile

Thanks Ross....yes indeed....looking forward to that day. The red 500 is closer to you now than me as has made its way to Scotland.

LOL....yes, bit of a weird one. I never gave the red 500 100% throttle ever only 50-75% I would say. That was plenty enough for me. Indeed seems weird to buy one with more power and I wasn't looking to do this as it is far more than I need. It was more about the car and colour but all of it just hits my spot bang on.

Nothing has changed really. I always felt I wanted another RV8 TVR as have not found an alternative that ticks all the boxes. The red 500 was always too fast for what I actually need or use it for. The new blue one will be the same but like the red 500 I will likely just drive it at less than 100%. It was just such a nice attractive and appealing car for my tastes the fact it is too fast was a compromise I was prepared to make smile

I could always remove the Supercharger but I would expect I won't but just will drive it gingerly! Until I drive it I won't know but certainly looking at it now with more appreciating eyes than I ever did with the red 500. Not that the red 500 was a bad call at all as it isn't......it is very good. Just never been a fan of red cars and it never really lit my fire just on the colour front. Everything else was very good so the new owner has a great car for sure.

My old 5.5 would drive like a pussycat. You wouldn't think that there were 400 horses there.

The power seemed very linear. More throttle, (full throttle) = mental but just driving it like a normal car didn't give you any unfortunate surprises.

That was NA which normally is more responsive so I imagine your SC car is fairly docile down the lower end.

Add to that, these cars can be driven quite swiftly keeping the revs to 2000-2500 and you'll be fine.........

I think you will be right Peter and hoping it drives as well as it looks. Idling and running a bit rough only just putting in the garage in comparison to the red 500 that ran sweet. However it has only been used 25 miles in 3 years by Ric (last owner) so I think a good run will get it sorted.

Anyone have thoughts on if 98+ RON fuel will be better on a car like this?

I think the standard plenum and throttle stop can be a bit on/ off when using tickover type settings to potter about and why they can feel a bit dodgy on highly tuned examples sensitive to any fuel air input changes at low revs.
I’ve driven Peter’s 5.5 and I never went straight into a lamp post so he’s right you know biggrin
Proper fast but I felt well in control but the car had synergy running right through it. Same with Qbee car. Drives really nice at speed.
These are the differences so it has to be a total re think similar to both Mac’s and your new car I reckon.
It’s looks mustard so that’s a good start thumbup

It should be run on the fuel it was mapped for which I’d expect to be 99 but check Dean.
Using a lower octane fuel ( if it’s mapped for super )can be naughty for your pistons at higher revs as it can induce pinking I believe so do try and find out in the records of the car or talk to a FI expert about what the engine needs.
A few used to be on here so maybe they can help.

Fair enough, makes sense, I couldn’t imagine ever owning another Tamora as I’d spent so much money making it exactly to my taste, I think it’s V8 F Type or V10 R8 for me next!

I think the R8 is more of a push me pull you in than the Boxster, and I’ve got a Boxster!

Good news - north east Scotland by any chance?
