In other news I'm surprised the Autocar article hasn't been mentioned yet: https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/tvr-re...

And go...

I think I have read that fiction before.
Has Autocar just reprinted a previous article ?

These are the 'standouts' from the article;

'TVR plans to employ 200 people at the factory and says, “significant progress” has been made.
Autocar has learned TVR anticipates signing a lease deal in the coming weeks, now that the shell of the building is ready for the installation of tooling and equipment.

'The latest records show that TVR finished the financial year ending June 2021 with £8000 in cash (down from £32,000 in 2020)
and £12.1 million of liabilities and borrowings payable within 12 months (up from £10.8 million in 2020).'

If their cash continued reducing at the same rate, that might now indicate an £16,000 overdraft.
Together with the liabilities and borrowings, it hardly seems an ideal position to start any cash hungry car manufacturing business.

Same old same old. More empty promises from TVR but not surprising given their track record.

And Autocar, if you read this, the delays were not caused by the factory tendering process. Read the Senedd's pages from the Welsh Ministers who clearly made it known that until TVR had sufficient FUNDING, they would not occupy the factory. The 'delay' gave TVR more time to raise the funding but we know that did not happen. Assuming Ensorcia throw millions into the pot, this is the only way this project can possibly hope to continue.

This article is not surprising since Edgar lambasted Autocar (incorrectly as it has since turned out) in one of those rare TVR events, an UPDATE on the TVRCC News pages, and Steve Cropley was gushing with praise (after spending a day at TVR "head office" in Surrey) in his last article where he is pictured with Edgar, Berriman and Chasey (think it was him). Until then the Autocar articles had been written by another writer who printed the truth but left the magazine shortly afterwards.

Serious question.

When a car company dies, does it still get posted in the obituary section of the Times biggrin

I do wish them luck but this still does not sound great.
It's the London Gazette. Bit of a a dry read. It's where all legal and company matters are detailed. Lists of companies that are insolvent; struck off; notices for creditors to come forward with their claims over dead people's estates and such like.

A notice in there is deemed to be an notice to the whole world even though no one ever reads it!
Thanks.

There have been some TVR notices published in the London Gazette, during recent years.
If there are any PHers who are really bored, then here is the list.

In other news, I drove the Chimaera home from work yesterday late at night. Roof off, windows down. Lovely!

Wife tells me I have a dim sidelight. They're LED so was a bit confused. Anyway, decided to investigate and it was a poor earth. In my WD40 induced pleasure (!) I managed to drop the bastid bulb into the wing. I had to wait for the wife to come home to get her hand in to retrieve it. As soon as she did I managed to drop the bleddy thing again. Third time I got it all back together and happily working.

Malaka is very appropriate. He used to stand in the kitchen window around 5pm in just his boxers when our daughter would stop in front of his house before reversing on to the driveway after work.

Actually the doll resembles him quite closely.

Unfortunately no. It has all escalated. He called the police after threatening me! They attended and then advised I call 101 and get a crime number after watching my CCTV of the incident. I refused as for the last 5 years the police have been less than interested. So they took it upon themselves and gave me a crime number.

The next day he came home pissed up and started shouting about. His wife went across the road to thank a neighbour while they were on holiday and he really went for it. I was called an evil bd, a , an ahole and he came outside to the front of my house where he skipped up and down the road like a 3 year old shouting "I like a little dance now and again". Not getting any reaction from us he went inside and turned the radio up nice and loud and continued to shout over and over above the music, "them conifers are fking coming down with a vengeance". He said this about 6 times. He's referring to a row of conifers that are actually dead but covered in ivy which are just on his side of the front boundary and form a hedge about 6 feet high. Then he will be able to watch me which I'm sure is what he wants.

Then he repeated over and over "cameras are going up" and true to his word he has installed on Sunday a single camera, solar powered with built in microphone. He can now listen to us on his phone which does not bother us at all. Most of us have CCTV now as we get prowlers.

Still getting no reaction from us, other than my wife who went into the drive in case he did anything really silly, the rear patio doors were flung open and he shouted at the top of his voice "fat bh". So loud that all the families at the back went silent for a few moments. He had seen her from his side window and had been tapping the glass to get her to look. His wife returned from the neighbour's after 40 mins and instantly he turned off the radio and was quiet as a mouse. I reported this via the online police form and next day gave a statement and got two more crime numbers, one for harassment and one for a public order offence. So a week on and I've not heard anything as yet so he thinks he has got away with it.

Then last night we were sitting out in the back garden and he again opened the patio doors and was once more shouting "fat bh" until his wife told him off saying "he can hear you" (meaning the CCTV). Of course he can't now shout at the front or his own CCTV will record him.

The saga continues......

I'll be honest, absolutely none of the new EV selection out there appeals to me.

  • Hyundai - enters the room.....

https://www.pistonheads.com/news/general-pistonhea...

This concept, and I'll be honest, most of their current range really works for me.

Some of the styling is hideously clunky but I hark back to when the Ford Focus was revealed with its "Edge" design languauge. That looked clunky, too radical and I thought Ford had lost the plot. 10 years later and it's now a classic (imho) of daily / shopping, car design that appealed to the masses.

The N Vision 74 has hints of Porsche, Audi Quattro, Deloreon, Retro Gaming, 280Z (rear window slats) Corrado, you could go on for ages. Who'd have thought that the Pony from all those years ago would get reborn like this. laugh

It's bonkers and that's what is great. EVs have so little else to sell themselves they need to grab you're attention with the design.

Even the Ionic 6 (or RN22e bonkers machine) looks like a badly rehashed 2012 Citroën C6 to me at the moment but I'd rather be seen in that, than any of the bland-ass Tesla range.

Which would you chose, an N Vision 74 or a Griffith? in EV form..... wink

May I suggest you brief some mates, and generate a scenario where he’s out the front ranting and they arrive? One confronts him and tells him like it is, or something like that - so it’s not coming directly from you?

I hate most EVs, especially Tesla’s - horrible styling.
I like most of the Hyundai range. I would take one of the concept Hyundai sports car EVs over a TVR Griffith EV.
