New TVR still under wraps! (Vol. 2)
Discussion
time flies, so no V8 sadly, so the new EV 4 seater TVR Griffith spotted...they start with 25 cars.
oke its not a TVR solly, but when I opened that post and saw the colour used, and a bit of the lines, the first car came to mind was TVR.
if you scroll down it takes on a Tesla Model S SP100D in a drag race.

TVR obviously wrote this nonsense. Same old 'news' yet again with another 'promise' that does not address anything. Nothing to see hear, move along.

Looks like a rehash of the Autocar article from this morning.Nothing to see hear, move along.

On a side note, only 25 will be made and it'll be 1.25 Mio for the base model, but it DOES look cool !oke its not a TVR solly, but when I opened that post and saw the colour used, and a bit of the lines, the first car came to mind was TVR.

I thought Shmee didn't get an invite in advance to the photoshoot, he just happened to find out about it (Tim correct me if I am wrong)?
lol.. believe that and you'll believe anything... ie who told him.. not to say, that this is not a positive for TVR... but no.. 'happened to find out' - as you do...
I got a phone call at 11:55 on Sunday from a friend who is close with TVR but not a TVR employee saying that they were out shooting. I replied at 12:14 that I would head to meet them and by the time we had packed up things for the aforementioned flight (given we would have to head to Heathrow straight afterwards), got there around 13:20.
I was with them for approximately 1hr before the car departed for further photoshoot locations, but this was certainly what I call "happened to find out" rather than any kind of pre-arranged exercise.

Just to clarify this one because I find it highly confusing and suggestive of a conspiracy theory which is most bizarre.

no conspiracies.... just that someone associated with TVR (ie gets paid by them) dropped a link with photos of the car in a Facebook group of deposit holders, saying he was with you... Some of them were re-posted here (not by me) and then he got a bit miffed when everyone asked what was going on, and were not all super, super fanboy positive.. then he started being rude to them, which was met by a response, not very professional of you, as he could be seen as being representative of TVR (ie paid commercial relationship for his services),. then he deleted the whole post.. ( and he's done that sort of thing before)
Were TVR happy then that you showed up, were they happy that their associate 'leaked the location' of the photoshoot.. If TVR were happy, fine, we can leave it.. (I'm a former product manager and product marketing manager, and am just left in total bemusement how TVR talk to their potential customers and mange social media and media) imho, they need someone good and marketing and comms (not volunteering!)
but a very, very odd way to do business... even now, TVR has put nothing on their official, Instagram, twitter and Facebook and website.. yet they were publicly driving the car around in central London, in prime carspotter territory (I did see a few spotteds, on various Facebook groups, by members of the public) - Marketing genius, or just really odd. too soon to tell? Especially as this all came about a day after JayEmms - what is happening to TVR video post, and now car media, picking up on nothing going on... They really need to get a director that is competent at marketing professional. all in my completely irrelevant opinion of course...
PS. video of the car on the road was good and the car still looks great, I still want one and you really get the point that it is quite a small car. not some wide bedroom of a exotic supercar, that you could not drive down a b-road, without sucking all your teeth in, when a car comes in the other direction.
PPS what is really, really bizarre to me, is that TVR dd not think to give Tim a call in the first place. photo-shoot, London, supercar spotter territory, make a big thing of it, on Instagram, etc. bit of viral marketing, Tim an ideal and enthusiastic customer (with a massive car video blogging reach) for this type of car (manual, light, small epic v8 aero equipped car, designed by Gordon Murray. Tim should be on speed-dial)

Honestly as I understood it all was great, there was no objection to this in the slightest. I had good conversations with two of the team present and a third since; I hope to have a more detailed piece with new information before too long.Shmee said:

Fantastic!.. Lots of people just want the car (and it's been nearly 5 years since some of us put a deposit down)
I was browsing Roush supercharger today for the Mustang(same) engine as new Griffith - And I even have a Mustang and the supercharger was not going to be for that...!
760 bhp Griffith, 1250 kgs...... ;-)
Sorry, it's all too little too late.
It's out of date, looks old, was always goppingly ugly (subjective, I know) but that is only highlighting it's age.
There are better cars, with better after sales and support out there for the money. And you can bet the price quoted in 2016/7 won't be the price today. No sir, that was our projection if it was in production now. Regrettably costs and raw materials have increased in price (insert Brexit here if you like) and it will now be 20% (insert other figures) more now. Still excellent value for an ugly piece of plastic with a Mustang engine, I'm sure you'll agree?

I wonder how an American engined car with a British Chassis and if GM is as good as his price it should be fast through the twisties sell over the pond.
Strikes me the styling of this car suits the American market. If they can build I stream anywhere then why not build them there, keeps costs low, this car could be a hit if it’s truly fast and well priced.
If the body is just a lump of plastic it won’t take long to redesign parts of it based on Tvr offering different versions and styles.
No two Tvr alike etc, could be a great thing, Brit kit car hits states and blows Corvette off
Be like the old days at the factory with fibreglass creations allover the place.
It might not be dead yet. Let’s hope hey

There’s so much twaddle on here, In the last month we’ve had
Why don’t they just do 50 cars now start small ? What - tool up and crew up for a tiny production, from presumably a unit somewhere, who will warrant? Who will finance? How would they profit from the massive cost due to absolutely no economy of scale???
Just stick istream somewhere and start tomorrow and also do the us market
‘Just’????
Istream is a production process, it’s involved. It’s not
a) A burger van
b) A 3D printer on a set of castors
As for the US - yeah right. They can’t get their act together here so how does that work.
TVR were trying to do this seriously. Deposits-Finance-Factory-Production. They got past D, stalled on Fi, went on to Fa but no Fi means they’re stuck.
IMO they cocked up MARKETING/PR so are stuck. A light bulb told them register the prototype to look better on the books (it now has a tangible value as a one off - £250k anyone? as against bugger all before). It’s also for directors to piss about in under the loose banner of advertising.
However the Harvey Jones’s here have great ideas but many are frankly nuts and just show they haven’t the first clue what a business is about, how one starts and how one gets finance or grows.
The finance is the issue. That needs a proposal. It needs a plan. It needs a good risk assessment. It needs a return. TVR has it all but the good risk assessment. That’s been TORPEDOED by TVR’s lack of PR and marketing, I don’t mean glossy brochures I mean getting deposits, getting more deposits, and keeping them. Getting people on board, the ‘public’ on board, the press on board.
Instead they’ve lost deposits, they’ve seriously pissed off ardent fans and no one knows what’s going on. Secret updates that say bugger all put them further in a hole. No one is their friend.
And why?
Lack of PR. A PR man would have dealt with this professionally and made damn sure everyone was up to speed.
I hope they succeed. I really do. But the likes of Shmee alone won’t help, I’m sure he would be the first to acknowledge that his efforts are no more than DIY promotion compared to what he or others could do if actually given the job of doing it properly.
The next quarter I’m sure will be make or break. By Easter either things will either be on the rails or it’ll be RIP.
It would help greatly if Les did an interview. A decent insight into where they are and what’s happening - It would end destructive speculation.
