No Andy like yourself was on a careful budget but he was wise as to what he had others do and what professionals did so he had it sprayed. That I'll be more than happy,do you know if he sprayed it himself ,or a paint shop ,regards keith

You are right there !
To think under different circumstances my ownership of WFD could have led to it being like that..
I have seen pictures of other Vixens with wooden fascia. .Was that standard?
Most had the Padded dash some earlier cars had wood like the 1800s however they then introduce wooden inserts on the V8SE Interior here are some examples some may varyTo think under different circumstances my ownership of WFD could have led to it being like that..

Hi just an update on vixen wdf have had trouble getting someone in my part of the country to take on the respray all lve tried so far have come up with rediculas prices , especially when all the old paint Is off to the gell coat, and gell crackes all repaired , just had a painter round today to look at the job and he was impressed at the condition of the body ,waiting for his estamate to spray ,keeping my fingers crossed it's a reasonable price,
Hi, thanks for the input ,painter came up with reasonable price so it's all systems go , I removed screens, very scary as rubbers had hardened with age, the screens were rear heated , and front laminated with tinted top section , I would of commited suicide if I cracked one ,cut front rubber to get screen out , have got new rubbers and fillers for both , doors and gaps all done , so painter taking bare shell with doors hung and bonnet seems to know what it's about recons will take two weeks will keep update and maybe some pics, if I can work out how to get them on
Just a point. .
The Vixen was never intended to be a luxurious sports car so in my mind an attractive finish is all I would require.
I do think people go over the top in all aspects of historic car preparation ..
All the same looking forward to seeing it in colour
You mentioning the tint top laminated screen and heated rear brought back memories of what an equiped example I sold on.

Yes heated rear screen quite rare now apparently. And tinted top front screen I didn't really notice till I removed it .Will post some pictures as soon as I get the shell back marigold orange as promised .
Heated rear screens are common (relatively) since were fitted to majority of M series cars and Taimars. The rare screens and correct ones for vixens are sundym tinted and un-heated.I don't recall an original vixen being fitted with a top tint glass. I suspect you have a later laminated screen with top tint.
If it is a toughened screen I would consider replacing it but I would guess it is laminated.
Be good to see the car painted. who did you go with in the end?
Neil.
