And, I believe, the Cerbera interior. Now there was an achievement.

Certainly the Tuscan interior because I spent time upstairs on the TVR stand chatting to him at the Motor Show when it was launched. Those were the days smile

Those look bloody good.

Where did you source them though?
Surely the last pic is an Alpha 8C competzione with photo shopped lights and TVR badge!

I went to the Top gear track when the pre-production Sagaris was there together with the V10 Porsche and the McLaren Mercedes.

Whilst I could see, if I really tried, the attraction of the other two supercars - especially the McL/M - I felt that my position in the Club demanded that I should put a more defensive point of view. So I said to the chap who drove the Porsche to the circuit that I liked the car (the build quality was rather impressive I have to say) but the back seemed a bit out of proportion. We discussed the problems of incorporating such a long engine within a reasonable wheelbase, just as if I had anything worthwhile to say on the subject, but then I mentioned the interior. I said I felt it lacked inspiration. There was a brief silence and then I mentioned the Cerbera dash and the chap said: Oh, don't.

It was obvious that he really liked it.

All sledging aside the interior wasn't up to the class of the rest of the car. Perhaps Porsche should have asked advice from the master. I'm sure PW would have helped them. But perhaps not.

This is all a lot of fun but everyone seems to be taking the comments of 'this is an artists drawing from a few years ago and the new car may look like this' as some kind of formal release from some kind of official TVR entity.

In reality any new car is firstly not likely to exist and if it were it would look more like this than any student artist's scribblings from a third world country dating back anything up to 5 years:

I was under the impression that Nick Coughlan is no longer a student and, as the last time I contacted him he was in Germany, I think the natives of that country might be a bit miffed with the description of 'third world'.

And scribblings?

Apologies, I thought Nick was Scottish. biggrin

Besides, this was what I had more in mind at the time of writing:

And the various other overseas student impressions of a new TVR that are splattered around PH.

Not really, just the name is new. Been around since the begining. biggrin

That's why I'm comfortable about the amount of abject bollax spouted around when it comes to TVR. wink

I had the Russian boy as a neighbour for a couple of years. Suspect he's still struggling to get his pants on the right way round let alone producing a competant comeback for TVR. Sda, very sad but that's the reality.

As I say, forget the Russian he's new too - get one of John Tippler's books to read up on the real characters and personalities behind TVR.

Rich, I'm not getting it. I don't see how a 3rd party book could accurately predict TVR making a comeback in it's present guise.

NS still owns the brand and from the looks of what is coming out of the US is clearly not fully in control of it.

He build one new car the other year and then seemingly gave it away and showed no attempt to take it any further.

He clearly changes his mind every five minutes and I suspect that competant people who may be interested in taking the brand off him would not be able to raise the level of funds required.

NS just hasn't got it in him to produce and then market a new car and I very much doubt anyone else can get hold of the brand etc at present.

It would be lovely to see a new car but even on the remote chance that one appears this year the liklihood of it entering production is really zero. I would not be surprised if NS had a medical condition like ADD as he isn't able to see anything through.

Nothing to too complex - you said that although you knew the Ruskie you didn't know some of the characters involved with the company in the more successful years such as Nick Coughlan. The Tippler books mention these guys and are a good read about TVR. Simples...

If you dig deep enough its the opposite way round, the Alpha 8c design was originally intended for TVR, there was an internal wrangle over it i believe wink
