I read it more that the WG investment money already pledged is assigned to the factory refurb and not that more funds will be forthcoming.

At least it wasn't an announcement saying all bets are off so hope remains if nothing else.
Agreed. What a fabulous position to be in, a government prepared to pay for a building refurbishment up front while you work out what your going to make thumbup

Exploratory works in January so with a new roof and extensive repairs say 6 months minimum - July 2021.
Then pre-production leading to production say 18 months - January 2023?

The Coyote engine in 5 litre form will most likely be discontinued before then and at the moment likely to be replaced by a 4.8 although with increased power. So, stockpile Coyotes or prepare for the new engine? Or wait for Ford to develop hybrid for the future?
Decisions, decisions.
So .gov foots the bill for the building renovation, and TVR does what exactly? Have they raised enough cash with their bonds sell off? If not, then the building means nothing?
The government statements always said they would not refurb until there was proof of funding. So you have to assume they have raised the cash now. The renovation costs were estimated at £5m which is a lot of taxpayers' money.

When I raised the factory position before, people were saying the factory was not important as it was an empty unit. The money was needed for pre-production, testing, training and stuff so presumably TVR are on with that. They have another facility nearby so look out for job adverts???

This is a sign of progress.

and as someone else said, the refurb seemed to have depended on TVR securing funding. So I'm going to assume this has happened and it is all positive news. I don't have a deposit myself anymore, partly because of the delays, but also because my circumstances have changed and I'd find it very hard to justify to my family spending 90k on any car..

I really want TVR to succeed, and not only for the benefits it would bring for the existing now just about classic, cars. And maybe I can pick up a new one second hand 'newone' in the future.. and in the further future a hybrid, or even pure EV would suit me.

As it is 'The Spirit of Driving' not the noise of driving.. a lightweight (small) TVR with all the unnecessary EV tech ditched (why do EVs have to have autonomy features id beyond me) just have TC, ABS absolutely the minimum of tech that regulation demands, and keep it as light as possible.

..and for the record, I still like the styling of the 'new griffith' preferably in dark blue.. and/or flip purple

This. That press release promises building work starting in January. I suspect that deadline, along with countless others in the past, will slip and there will be a deafening silence from TVR.

Sorry, forgot this thread doesn't permit realism. Just the happy clappy fan boys.

You can flame me all you like when Jones and his plant move in in January. Until then, my view is as valid as yours. Probably moreso.

Why optimism when all we see in non news. So what if the Welsh govt fixes a roof. Where’s the funding and the manufacturing readiness and plans.

It's also on their website. The TVRCC also has a larger write up on their main club page.

It was about signing the lease, not raising money. Landlords do not spend money on their buildings for tenants, until the tenant has signed, because until then, the tenant can just walk away, leaving the landlord having spent the money for nothing, so you have to assume that the lease has been signed.

It seems unlikely that they have raised any funds given how 2020 has been.

Maybe Tvr have have signed a contract to rent the building subject to funding which they must have which is why this email can be delivered. Watch this space !

Wrong!

The government said "advanced discussions are under way with our selected building contractor".

It added the plant would become TVR's factory once the company had raised the finance it needed to make the cars.

and

The Welsh Government said it had an agreement to lease the plant "which will become TVR's factory once it has raised the necessary capital".

and

we (the government) continue to work proactively to support the company while it seeks to secure the private sector finance needed to commence vehicle production."

I don't have a deposit any more, circumstances have changed, and I can't justify to my family a 90k car of any make..

hopefully, in a year or two things will be better for everyone, and a new TVR would be nice.
Let people be optimistic, it's their money, their risk. I don't see why so many people here are so anti-TVR being resurrected when they are not affected at all personally, why the need to set other people 'right'

I agree that some of the anti-TVR comments are disappointing & I want the company to get on its feet producing something.
HOWEVER, if you don't keep people properly informed, communicate clearly & regularly then it's not surprising that frustration builds among what was a superbly supportive & enthusiastic owner/fan base.
