Good to see you’re still with us Tim and that you didn’t get lost somewhere in the panel gaps of that McLaren biggrin

Look forward to Sunday’s video.
Now that wasn't great was it but I think a lot of people overlooked that it was a design model of the car as opposed to a production ready vehicle. The upside was an early look at a time when other things are quiet on the McLaren front, the downside is that it was incredible fragile, and the panel gaps weren't so great.

Dearest Schmee . Can you maybe enlighten us all as to what this car is like to drive and your honest opinion when you will get yours ? You obviously read most of these posts and would truly welcome your honest opinions as to what’s happening here . More importantly, did they let you drive the car?
I can't enlighten you on what it's like to drive as I have not driven it, but I did ride around the block briefly with Les and have therefore heard it (believe me the side exhausts work a treat!). My video will come tomorrow at 14:00 on the topic; of course a video made primarily for the viewers of the channel but equally should offer some additional insight from Les.

With regards to my car, I initially made my deposit a couple of years ago which placed it right in the middle of the pack, but I have since swapped with another slot from Topcats which offers the opportunity to get it out there sooner and as a result hopefully spread the good word about the car. Like anybody else, I don't know when that actually means deliveries will start beyond the information TVR have officially given to us.

enough of the waffle Tim ...a simple ‘cut to the chase’ please tomorrow.
Be brutal.
And be opinionated.
TVR are paying attention.
This car is HnS above all else in expectancy levels.
I demand nothing other than a ‘culling~machine’ with bomb~proof BQ.
If it ain’t right ‘somewhere’...tell ‘em

What I don't understand about most of the negativity here is that it tends to focus on a lack of progress; if the Les mail is any indication, the lack of progress is real but its outside of their sphere of influence. If the EU's dictates slows progress then it slows progress. What on earth do you think TVR, Les, etc. can do about that? Regulatory bodies always slow things more than you expect, even when you've done your research and planned the job to within an inch of its life.

I'm a professional project manager, I've managed the build of a factory (well, a spoolbase); don't underestimate acts of god, or the EU! We had three hurricanes wipe out our foundations. Then swine flu. Suppliers who couldn't hit delivery dates if you put a gun to their heads. Etc.

What TVR are attempting is difficult. Even if information is slow to be provided, if that information is 'no information' then what do you want? Weekly reports saying 'no progress'?

I'm guessing for Les and his team, all of these comments are about as irritating as 'are we there yet?' from a sugar infused pre teen.
^ I agree completely with that.

In a sense they’ve shot themselves in the foot expectation-wise by producing a complete car from scratch in such a short timeframe.

People are now extrapolating that rapid progress to delivered cars, but the reason they were able to put the car together is that it was an in-house exercise. It is evidence of how hard they are working on this project and I have no doubt they are working just as hard now, albeit against forces over which they have no control.

Thanks fo the reply . Shame you never drove it . I agree the exhausts are great but I fear will cause heat issues . Out of interest did you sell your amg gtr as you no longer seem to mention it ? I cam so so close to buying one but came to the conclusion I would never use it on a track and the trusty rs Porsche always wins that battle

Well, I've read it twice now.

Sounds like delays.

Not happy about ride height.

Car looks a couple of inches too slim and tyres look too skinny in the video.

Ford, not sure, wouldn't the Faster Mustangs be direct competitors?

Somebody said Lotus, I could see that, like Noble did earlier - or even Noble!

God, I really hope the car is great or I am just wasting wet dreams on a fantasy.
Ford is the obvious choice for me. Re competition, TVR would be a different market segment. Over there, TVR would be seen as exotic. A premium, high-performance sports car with Ford’s engine selling for twice the price of a Mustang would help sell Mustangs (assuming the TVR can fit that profile of course hehe)

Only partially with you here. It wasn't really that short until they had the first running prototype. Also at one point they simply had to go public for various reasons: keeping the car secret would have proven more and more difficult and you certainly want to be in control of the situation when it happens. At that time they had to show something to the depositors, but they also needed feedback from another audience and an initial badge of press-coverage and making the world know that they were about to return.

I agree that most of the delays afterwards do not fall into their realm and it indeed makes the public reveal look a bit premature. But there really wasn't any other way.

Noone talked about the video yet ? I know it wasn't long, but any opinions ? I liked the sound of the car, can't say much about handling, too short. Liked it a lot and definitely would like to see more, soon.

What do you project manage?? Your terminology would imply it’s not building but if it was you would know that the OJEU would be an early flag. TVR seem to have been caught out by basic stuff so I’m surprised at your post as you have said you do PM professionally.

One of my own areas of operation is Employers Agent/PM on commercial refurb and new build and I should think this all came about because someone other than TVR hadn’t realised it was a funding requirement and if they had then hadn’t communicated it to TVR.

Bullitt.. I’ve heard the Griff several times now (in the metal)...and it is LOUD....

Very...VERY loud.

Sounds more like a Spitfire / Hurricane than anything else to me...

(((I’m BIG on noise ...can pick the sound of my sons blade hitting a ball within a hall of 300 others...I LIKE what I hear so far..)))

Is your son a knife thrower by trade? If so I hope his new assistant doesn’t read this.

Sounds good, unfortunately i never had the chance so far. Like it very much from what i can tell from the videos and i guess they don't really bring it across. Even the idling sound. But the big question remains: will they have to make adjustments for homologation or is it already what we'll get !?

Not at all, since the new RENNtech turbos I drove it to Poland and back recently, and last week down to Stuttgart, it's on 17,500 miles now and will bring it back to the UK this weekend to round out just under 20k in 12 months of ownership. It's my daily driver at my place in Germany but of course with my travels that means it doesn't feature so much in videos, especially recently. I am taking it up to the Ring for some more laps before coming back home though.

I'll only sell it when the GT R Roadster is finally launched, although that's a predictable move for me. Will mean the Griffith sits perfectly alongside in the garage as a different set up.

I PM the construction of large scale offshore equipment and ships. As a one-off I PM'd the construction of the Port Isabel spoolbase so I feel their pain as a UK PM trying to build something onshore in the US i.e. trying to make sense of international governance. What I'm saying is that things are frequently out of your control which you roll with as best you can. Win some, lose some.

I'd love to see the new car rolling out of a factory, but I think we should all be a little more forgiving when you consider the monumental hurdles they face. Would you all rather Les gives up?

Having left the TVR fold and been in the Aston crewe for a while now I had to get down to Topcats to see it.

Looked much better in the flesh and sounded great but it looked very mainstream and in the company of older TVRs it looked not so special IMO.

The car that did push my buttons was the Orange Typhon and met the very nice owner. Would I throw 90k at the new car?.. I don't think so. The car is very capable I'm sure and looks are passable with its competition... owners will get a tremendous buzz 100% but not making me want to jump at it (or infront of it lol)
