"Initially 80 people are expected to work at the site"

Shouldn't they have begun the recruitment process by now? The factory refurb cant be very long off completion?

Is that rate for semi-skilled workers as TVR say they only need that level of skill to assemble the cars. I presume that Cosworth or some other supplier will supply pre programmed engine ECUs ready for a straight fit along with ABS and Airbag units direct from Bosch or whichever supplier they choose.
Wonder who is making the interiors and will they paint the cars in-house or elsewhere? They will need to pay fully skilled rates for these last two operations if in-house.

Looks like Baconsarney has dozed off again. Eerily quiet. getmecoat

I just took the uk average wage tbh! Some workers will be less skilled, some will be more skilled, an average is, er, an average :-)

Sure, not a bad assumption to make, and sure you dont want that wage bill for them to be sat idle. But wouldnt you think they could advertise for labour with the prospect of starting work in X months time...where X surely cant be too big a number??

Only if you have;-
1) Funding.
2) A designed, tested, compliant & approved car, ready to build.
3) Confirmed factory location & condition of same to proceed.
4) Knowledge of when the above will be.
5) Probably something else I've forgotten to include.

The factory is being refurbed, one of the forum members kindly did a recce and posted photograpic evidence of that.
So are we saying the refurb has absolutely nothing to do with TVR?

A large derelict building on an industrial estate in South Wales is having it's roof repaired.

The building has no tenant at present and is owned by the Welsh Government.

Plenty more ducks need to be in a row for it to become a factory actually capable of making cars.

So the welsh government are having it repaired because they are short of something to spend money on?

Well, they're not going to lease it to anyone unless they do. What would you do as a landlord, leave it to rot further?

Sure, they have a prospective tenant in TVR, but that's pretty much it.

They have left it to rot for the last 5 years since it was first announced that TVR would be based there. Why suddenly spring into action now?

Sorry if this article has been posted before, but it does seem to give a more realistic view of where things are.

TVR have since stated that the bond has not reached the level of investment they were hoping for, but in the absence of any recent updates that could have changed as well, but radio silence would maybe suggest that is still the situation.

TVR would be shouting from the roof tops if they had raised the £25m one would think.

+1
There also may be a political element, in that after all the initial fanfares of things happening, the Welsh Govt, who loaned newco Tvr money at the start, have to be seen to have something at the end of the day. Perhaps also, the building was getting to the point of either repair now or knock it down?
