Looks fantastic! (As said, now is not the time for negativity and it does look very striking.)

I haven't had this email from TVR, although I had all the earlier ones, having previously 'expressed an interest'. Anyone else not received this? (And no, it's not in my spam folder!)

Looking forward to the next installment. Kind of wishing I'd rashly put down a deposit now! bounce
You're not the only one. I also expressed interest, yonks ago, and don't think I've received any e-mails. It sounds like people must have received an invitation to place a deposit, given that some have, and I haven't received that invitation either.

What deposit is (was?) needed, and what information was provided at the time? I'm not on here all the time and it looks as if I must have missed a lot!

I went to the web site again and expressed an interest once more. Received the latest news letter this time. Give it another go.

I see Steve Cropley at Autocar is saying TVR are using their rendering. http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/tvr-tea...

Steve Cropley says: "The reborn TVR brand issued a new teaser image of its 2017 sports car over Christmas - but has admitted the drawing is a reworked version of a rendering of the car created by Autocar"

I want to point out that the picture of my magic beans are the real magic beans, not some random 3rd party person's idea of what magic beans might possibly look like in the event that such beans eventually transpired.

In the meantime here's a photo of a gorgeous 2017 C Class coupe (the actual coupe, not a drawing by some bloke of what it might look like).

New c class is nice. But look at a pic or rear quarter and not so nice I'm afraid. Boot is awful. The size / scale of it and rear lights are all wrong

How can TVR say that they wanted to give their deposit holder's a glimpse of what the car may look like, when they've simply just used the autocar picture, with tiny changes???

So, they either gave autocar that pic to begin with, or they're telling porkies..

Maybe they haven't decided on the shape of the outer panels? I can't say that I'm hugely excited by the Autocar look but agree with others that it needs to be toned down from the Sag.

Ultimately, the overall look of the car is going to be determined by the potential client base they are targeting. And in the UK that means the over 50s. So what does a pensioner in waiting want to see before they buy their annuity spec BMW or Jaguar Martin and give up? wink

Is that the same car that's in Track V Road in Clitheroe?

Yes, I believe it is the one and only made.

The good money has to be on it looking nothing like a rendering that auto car put together based off conversations. Why would it? One of the chunks of texts even says they are working closely with design houses... Which autocar isn't.

It's an interesting marketing strategy... Let's hope it doesn't back fire and result in a huge loss of confidence for those with deposits.

The one at TvR is the only Speed 12 that ran and raced. There is a show car that never had any running gear, that one is 'missing'

Is it still in running condition or is it just the body and chassis? I'd have thought some collector would have up and running, it has to be the ultimate TVR doesn't it?

I believe it is just the body and chassis, so it would need quite a large restoration project to get back on the road. It should also have the Speed 12 engine, so makes for an even more mission impossible for any restoration.

(V8GRF has more details on this one, we have spoken on another FB thread - so I'm relaying some info from that chat)

I think it still looks incredible, given it was from the late 90's!

So the latest news is.

Production in 12/18m time?

No factory to build the car?

No decision on design or spec?

No price?

Plan to build 250 cars in the first year?

Target audience 50 yrs plus

And a Autocar shot of the car with a different wheel design?

Thanks for the update.

To the lads who have given a deposit, are you getting regular E-mail/communication from the 6ft square office in Whiteley, yes I went there out of curiosity (2 miles away) Nothing to see.
Or are you in the dark like most of us? I truly hope you will have something to show for your patience.

I think they've said the first ones will be being built at GM's facility, so the stand alone factory is only needed for the next batch of cars. That suggests there is no rush and it wouldn't make sense to pay a year's rent on a unit you have no need of?

GM seems to have alluded that the car itself is mostly done and that what remains is the outer skin which isn't structural etc.

So it does sound as if the factory stuff is a bit of a red herring and the fact that they haven't done the usual British motor industry thing of showing off a shell and then never delivering the car they might be concentrating resources on building the car rather than wasting them on the skin until the project is at a point that it needs it?

I'm pretty sure they've given as clear an indication on price as possible and that seemed to be c£80k?

And the over 50s remark is from me and simply based on the fact that there aren't 250 under 50s in the UK with £80k to spend on an impractical car. Anyone selling such products has to build them around the Baby Boomer segment as they have the money to buy, the time to use and the space to keep. Hence why all the competitors have to stuff their cars full of pile warmers, neck warmers, electric seats, electric roof, 100 different heater outlets and loud stereos all in order to placate the old buffers they sell too. biggrin
