A friend of mine has an original Honda monkey bike which he painstakingly rebuilt completely to as new condition. I think he rode it once and then mounted it on the wall in his sitting room much to his wife's disgust!

The Fizzy documentary FS1E.
Well worth a watch if you want to see like minded old men having the time of their lives.
Small 4 strokes just don’t cut it quite like 2 strokes do.

I’m even thinking of strapping a tent to mine riding to an event and sleeping in a field in North Wales biggrin

There was an MZ on eBay under sold items, yellow it was. Sold as spares/repair but only because (like a lot of them) it hadn’t been used for a while. Looked really tidy n’all.

Guess how much it went for….

And a black one - similar price

In the last 5 days I have trodden on a nail (A&E job), crushed a finger when the tree branch I was lopping off pinned it against another, shaved all the fingerprint off a thumb using a wire wheel, dropped a hob I was fitting on a bare foot, and I’m still recovering from a nasty neck & spinal cord op in 2019 after having a 6m length of 4x2 drop on my head.let alone two lumps on my head I don’t even remember how I got but they startled the barber last week.

Tempting fate is the only thing stopping my buying a 2 stroke today, I’ve decided to get a clear couple of months when I’m not staggering or otherwise in some form of post traumatic state. Then it’s balls out for a bit of tinkerage.

eek ...let's hope he's a static sleeper and that centre-stand is on firm ground.
On the positive side, he's pretty safe from the locals up there... hehe

£350 - £500 roughly.
Or in my bikes case £100 complete in a box.

Let the tinkering begin.
I’ve got all my electrics and mechanicals working, well they were earlier so starting to focus my attention on something I did 40 odd years ago as I was the go too teenage kid who would paint your tank for £5
So decided it’s time to try on the MZ as it’s a bitty.
Started with Renault Extreme Blue but it’s too modern, I will go for a solid blue. I like the Ford Olympic blue used between 1974-77 on sporty Mk2 escorts. This is just a trial run and the first time in years. Rattle can Al they call me hehe
I need an extractor fan as it’s a nightmare keeping dust and specks out of it.
I’ll flat this back but it’s not the colour I want but it’s a lovely colour in itself.

Tool box lid.

Ouch!

Yesterday afternoon my son was giving me a hand to remove the bottom swivel that is a press fit in the cast-iron axle ends of my P38 Range Rover., (Rubber boot was perished and will be an MOT failure ). The main body of the swivel joint is about 2 inches in diameter, solid steel and a push fit in the axle end. The swivel threaded end pokes out from below and is about 3 inches long eggs 5/8“ diameter. The thought was to heat up the surrounding cast-iron yolk and belt it out as a specialist press tool was not available, (can’t take out the axle and put it in my standing press). We were merrily heating away with two propane blowtorches to get it very hot standing about 3 foot apart with the car on the ramp. Suddenly there was a sound like a proper gun going off and the threaded section short out downwards at a great velocity, made a half inch dent in the concrete floor, ricocheted off inbetween our heads, hit the roof and landed on the floor. We literally dodged a bullet! If that had hit one of our feet on the way down, that would’ve been a hospital job. If it had hit the underside of our chins or heads generally I’m sure that would’ve been death! Who would have thought that that would have happened! Lesson learnt.

The ringing in our ears lasted for 2–3 hours from the “shot”!

After I had closed the barn door and watched the horse cantering away I ordered the special tool online which should be delivered later today!
