The Griffith prototype (running car, not styling exercise)is 18 months old! September 2017 - Car magazine were there, in the couple of weeks prior, watching it being built!

Also.. this is why I'm excited by the new Griffith, because of IStream Carbon.. and light weight.
Apologies on the age of the prototype, I was working back to the launch in 2016.

I was also excited by the Griffith, and by the IStream Carbon, yet all the claims about that being much more adaptable and allowing for swift modular production haven't materialised. All that initial excitement has gone as there simply isn't any substance behind any of the claims IMHO.

But they are their own worst enemy with these 'updates'. The December update was a rehash of the previous one but added promises that the new factory would be getting underway in early January. That update said the next big news would be revealed and the update was to be the 15th January or shortly after.
So, 7 weeks on and no big news, just a run-of-the-mill statement that there are two contractors in the bidding to refurbish the factory. To me that means a lot more delays as a contractor may be announced tomorrow but the chances of starting work immediately are probably zero. I'm sure it is not TVR's fault and we know that government is not the fastest moving thing on the planet so this delay should have been predicted.
We still do not know if there is any investment to carry this project forward but can they start to produce the cars with the amount of money they currently have? And the December update did say that if the factory was delayed they could start to produce elsewhere in the meantime but that seems to have been shelved. Maybe because all the parts have yet to be sourced: who knows?
I haven't seen the latest email but I hope it does not specify a date for the next big update....... rolleyes
Jesus Christ.....The (various) government bodies responsible for roads....have been promising - discussing - electioneering a de-bottleneck(ing) of the A303 past Stonehenge for the past 30 years.
Since I've lived in Hampshire, - about 40 years now, the politicians have been discussing a by-pass around Lyndhurst.

So - the TVR factory is positively hurtling along. And, unlike our UK government, we are getting occasional sitreps, from TVR who probably have 0.0001% of the people employed in National and Local government.

And that is just addressing the factory question. TVR are a small team who I expect have to get their employees to wear several(many?) different hats....give 'em a break!

Nick
Look, Les and his directors are not Scarper and Bodgit and are international businessmen. Getting into bed with a government agency is always going to be fraught with false dawns and unrealistic expectations. Timescales go out the window as you have correctly shown and this is something they should have expected. At this rate the Welsh Ministers will be calling in their loan before production even starts. Maybe a slight exaggeration but they need to be making money to repay the £2.5m so time is of the essence.
And so far as I can tell, they do not have any employees as such. Last statement said they had 7 employees who as far as I can tell are directors and a secretary. There seems to be a long way to go yet.

So here's a question -

How many of the glass half empty crew were around during the 2005/2006 years of TVR?
And
How many of the glass half full were around at that time.

I was around (Chimaera at the time) so wondering if my negativity is being pushed to the front of my head by the deja vu of those years, the broken promises and lack of comms etc.

I think there was one with a mint-colored top. Must have been one of those TVRs.

I bought my Griff in 2005
Looked at a lot of Tuscan’s and rejected all of them.
I wanted / preferred cleaner lines so a Sagaris didn’t really do it for me (still doesn’t tbh).
Most of my memories from that time are all about poor build quality and unreliability.
Cars had been leaving the dealers and going straight back in again..and again...and again...

The new Griff will be my 5th TVR since 2006.
Nothing if not committed!

I had a V8S which was reliable and a Griff 500 which had the well known 100amp fuse issue. About 6 months after I sold the Griff it needed a full engine rebuild.

I felt like I had missed a bullet with that one and didn't dare get a Tuscan which I had been thinking about.

Between 1989 and 2001 I had 6 in all....

S2
400SE
Chimaera 4.0
Griffith 500
Cerbera 4.2
Tuscan speed 6

..and was happily in for a new Griffith.

But this year is looking busy with 3 significant arrivals so with the lack of progress I sadly pulled my deposit back .

Taking account of current sentiment, shouldn't this thread be renamed New TVR now under shrowd.

I had a brand new Tuscan in 2003, ordered a brand new Tuscan 2 and went to the factory and watched it being made in 2005 and bought a 1 year old Sagaris in 2007 after the factory had closed.

I was at the factory with many others and our cars after Smolenski announced it was closing. I went to the pub that day along with many owners and nearly all the staff. I listened as men, some of whom were second generation TVR workers, some who had been there for 20 years or more, told their stories. Some were in tears.

TVR died that day. This ego trip has nothing to do with TVR. Not one ounce of the blood, sweat, tears or know how of the people who made TVR is to be found here.

I sold my Sagaris because I couldn’t bring it to the USA. One day maybe I’ll get another TVR. But if I do it will be a real one that was made in Blackpool.

sory, totally disagree, and I bought new TVR's in 1992, 1998, avoided the speed six era, although I realy, really liked the T350C, just witnessed to many Tuscan owners in tears! if/when TVR launches with 500 LE cars, very few people I think will be of the mind that TVR is dead.
