Sadly, for the first time, I believe the car will never make fruition. Such a shame, it had the support (and financial backing) of so many in the TVR community.

I hope I'm proven wrong.

I don’t recall a Morgan ever being anywhere near the forefront of anything in particular.
I know it was a long time ago but how about a 2 litre class win at 62 Le Mans? TVR entry that year failed to finish.

What excuses do you think we'll hear if TVR aren't going up the hill at Goodwood this year?

Rhetorical question - there'll just be silence..
C'mon TVR - delight me by proving me wrong!

"TVR" and "cutting edge".

Not seen those words together before.

TVR and "hedge cutting" had a certain ring about it. Many disappeared backwards.

Not on this thread it didn’t.

It did have support initially and even now most want it to succeed. They have been the masters of their own PR downfall by ignoring the very people who were fully behind them, and would still be if there weren't so many broken promises on updates, even if they are not quite what we want to hear in terms of progress and timescales.

If there was any positive news they would be communicating, so in the absence of this it is only human nature to speculate and it becomes a self perpetuating downward spiral which to me suggests the whole project is in serious trouble and they are only delaying the inevitable.

Let's hope they prove this to be wrong in the very near future.

if, and its still a big if, the new Griffith comes in 2020, they may hope new regulations on cars will not delay it even further.

how are the regulations on kit cars and how many may they produce to stay low under the radar and say, sell some via that route, almost ready, just a few little things clients or workshops can do to finish them.

would such still be possible in the UK ?

ofcourse its not what they dreamed of, but it can be some sort of 'start' and then later offer those kits with different body styles, say also more 'retro' classic TVR look, but on the same 'base'

they will never sell that many, so why not stay a bit low and produce some lovely to play with cars, make a start.

I do not know what is possible in the UK, but I guess there are still some ways to pass strong rules that are there for the more 'normal' multi produced cars?

You either get them or you don't.

They have a full order book, so plenty of people do.

I love Morgan cars. Or, rather, I love the idea of a Morgan. Flat caps, tweed, springer spaniels, the whole toff or landed gentry look/bullst (depending on the way you see it).

In reality, I don't think I'd ever actually like to own one. Heard a lot about them being neither particularly reliable or watertight.

Awful IMO. There was a time and a place, but man has been on the moon since then.
They just look poor taste retro now, I would much rather have one of these at least they look the part:

I don't really understand most of the last couple of pages. Where are these TVR fanboys? This seems like a hugely rational thread most of the time, I've seen one or two posts that are edging towards blind faith but most seem to be very (and these days rather forlornly) realistic about TVRs situation.
Don't worry....we are still around.
I am comforted to see that the thread has spent the last couple of pages on a more comedic vein. Much more uplifting.

Simply, I see the world like this. Until there is formal notice of otherwise, I will take delivery of the new TVR Griffith at some point. It may be late but I am in no hurry and whilst the gob on it is a bit iffy, I still think its a great looking car.

This thread is almost at 500 pages. A landmark achievement!

I'm a previous TVR owner and have no affection for Morgan's (although I do like the three wheeler).

No TVR has been cutting edge. Being more modern than a deliberately traditional classic car does not make you cutting edge.

TVR's hook was fast light basic vehicles not laden with technology. No ABS, many without PAS, no traction control etc. Hardly cutting edge.

A family hatchback from any manufacturer at the time would be more cutting edge with modern crash regulations, airbags etc

I'm loath to open a can of worms here but was the Aero 8 not more cutting edge that TVR's back in the early 2000's with its aluminium chassis and modern BMW V8?

I'm not looking to get into an argument about this, I just don't think you can ever call TVR cutting edge.

I have a three-wheeler, heavily upgraded engine. I have many other cars but this one is the one I laugh in and go sideways in the most. Hilarious thing. Also gets the most love on the road.

The four-wheeled ones however leave me stone cold!

Just as well they're just one marque out of many then! smile

I was commenting rather than complaining. I haven't owned and cant own a TVR anyway, not until they make one and then put an auto gearbox in it. It was my hope that at some stage they'd put one in the new Griffith, but they have to make the car first...

From PH news, this give a brief insight into a small part of what manufacturers have to do...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=3&...

Takes Koenigsegg 16 cars to get through the tests and that's very frugal.

I wonder how TVR are getting on with it?
