Yep - several times in my S3c and in the Griff, plenty of clear roads, decent food & wine etc. Places to see warm weather... etc. Use the tunnel or if you don't fancy that why not take the over-nighter from Portsmouth down to St Malo or Caen? Book a cabin and have a meal in the restuarent, all very civilised.

We've been a few times. I'll ask the wife for the b&b book we use and let you know - one time we paid £12 for a b&b with an amazing room and fantastic breakfast. We're off again in 2 weeks time - the best place to drive a TVR in my books.

Buy yourself a Michelin 1:200,000 French road atlas, work out a route using "Yellow" roads, slow down in the towns and villages and you will have the best motoring you can have in Europe. Go 3 times a year in both old and new TVR's and if you are into Mobil 1 buy it over there it is very cheap

I'm thinking of touring for a long weekend when I get my Tamora - does anyone know of a boot - mounted luggage rack that can be clipped to the edge of the lid, a bit like a bike rack?

You can get an MG rack which has rubber feet which sit on the boot lid and bungies that fit over the edges to hold it in place. Moss should sell them. Edited by Driller on Sunday 13th May 19:32

We did La Loire the other Easter in my Chimaera. Great fun (it rained all the time though). Just don't go at the wrong time of June or you'll suffer the Le Mans effect of French police watching out for any English registered car and nabbing you (not that you'd be speeding of course). The roads in France are great, esp. the N and D roads. Be prepared to be gawped at though. We usually book somewhere from: www.chateauxethotels.com

This weekend took my Fireblade the misses and a bunch of old biker friends into France, Belgium then Holland, great fun, but a bit saddle sore today (728 M- two days). Done the St malo trip six times from Portsmouth and its cool but don’t travel fri night, as the boat is full of stag and hen party’s, and sleep depravation from others on beer and chips can leave you a bit tired. Watch the cops also they don’t mess about much but the roads and scenery make up for it. Chimp 5 is doing the trip shortly , never see Tivs out there so if you see a cherry red one it just may be me. Sot, the book is called: "Special places to stay in France" by Alistair Sawdy It's been really useful for us. I think he does one for Italy now too.

I've taken TVRs to various places in Europe, but nothing beats the fortnight I've just had driving a Cerbie round the Picos de Europa in Northern Spain. Fantastic twisty mountain and gorge roads almost completely devoid of other traffic (at this time of year). Unbelievable. Only downside is that when you do meet another car he's as likely to be on your side of the road as his own ! MikeP.

Have to agree about the French roads there brilliant, the toll roads can be a bit pricey and ive had a few on the spot fines for speeding, if you want a good holiday in the Alps check out www.maisonrose.co.uk and talk to Jan or Macca.
