Well guys..it had to happen. After many many months (nearly one) and thousands of miles (700 actually) my S6 went pop last night.

Bear in mind I was running the f***er in, as it had the head changed at Blackpool at 11,000 miles. Is it unreasonable to think any work done by the factory should last more than one month and 700 miles?

I would like to think I could make the dealer take the car back, but my solicitor has told me it is very difficult to win this type of case.I am just totally and utterly devastated. I went £10,000 over budget to buy the car of my dreams (my only car) and this what happens....life stinks as someone once said!

I know some(most?) of you have experience of cars going back, so what is likely to happen? Will it be codged up again or the engine replaced? (Sounds like something on the bottom end has let go).Must admit I was tempted to rev it to destruction to ensure fitment of new engine, but could'nt bring myself to do it.

Before anyone starts, yes I know I was encouraging people to stop knocking TVR a couple of weeks back, I'm not really knocking them now (b@$t@rds!) because they make stunning cars, and I still think, reliability aside, the S6 is their best engine (can't believe I just typed that!) and after having had the privilege of driving the car (albeit for only a month) I just can't see me buying anything else.....for those of you thinking of taking the plunge, trust me NOTHING comes close. Please don't let threads like this put anyone off Cerbera ownership.....there are probably ten good cars for every crap one. I picked the crap one!

Yeah, yeah, I know, all together now, I TOLD YOU SO!

Now where did I put that Porsche brochure?

Thanks for the support and advice guys..its much appreciated. Lets hope the dealer offers the same support ay?.......they have made all the right noises so far though.

Mike.....no warning, 3000 rpm,200yds (luckily) away from home, sudden harsh rattle (quiet on tickover) like a lollypop stick in the wheel of a pushbike.Remember that on your Grifter...cool!. Had'nt been belting it or nothing, as I said I had been told to run it in.

Jon.....yes I am William Hayes's grandson, he died when I was a baby though. You may know my Dad Alan (everyone calls him Sam).

Bandit..... was yours a top end or bottom end failure? Are they replacing the engine wholesale?

Bennno (when you arrive).....be gentle. I did'nt mean to take the pi$$ out of your Porker really mate. Honest I did'nt

Now where's the icon for :suicidal:

UPDATE!

Started car this morning to put it outside for dealer to collect, knocking like a good 'un still.

Dealer rang 10 mins ago.....can't hear anything amiss at all!!!!!!!!

They suggested it was the exhaust knocking on the body.....I think not! I blew my race bike to bits last year - well versed in terminal noises from highly strung engines!

Still I'll be well pleased if she's OK. It'll back to business as usual baiting Bennno about his Porker with a bit of luck!

Harry.....not bothered about starting the car at all. In fact as I said earlier, it had crossed my mind whether to rev the engine to destruction to ENSURE fitment of a new lump rather than risk a (unsuccessful??) repair.

Peter..... Ishared your thoughts today but I don't think this is the case because the engine was sweet on tickover and only started to knock under load leading me to summize bottom end problems.

It won't get another chance if it rattles again. I'll make sure of that....I'll teach it to make me look a tw@t!
