Okay - so now I've sorted out the speaker situation, and fixed the large percussion drum that was the fuel tank venting problem, I am ready to replace the ancient Sony in the Chim.

I need a single disc CD Head Unit (better quality than changer), and much as I would like separate amps etc. I don't really have the time to plumb them all in, so want the convenience of an amplified head unit - although in the future I may strap my aged Rockford Fosgate series 1 to the 6x9's.

I'd like it to be dog simple - (I really don't need dolphins swimming on the display!) but I do want exceptional sound quality.

Those in the know will recognise these requirements pointing squarely to Nakamichi, but they have pulled out the UK and cannot be found. This leaves me with the £350 Alpine, or possibly the Blaupunkt San Francisco, both of which are fine stereos, but uneccesarily complex - meaning I spend money for features I would never use. Unless anyone knows where I can find a Becker for under £400?

Not a big Kenwood / Pioneer fan - all boom and fizz.

As you are all TVR people and know the sound dynamics of the car - I thought I'd canvass you for advice!

Hughjayteens,

You are a good man. CEL-Direct have just sold one Nakamichi. Must be the last one in the country! Let's hope it doesn't go wrong...

Will be collecting tomorrow and scraping my knuckles in the afternoon! I owe you a beer.

No - I don't have the ally bits yet (but may do soon). If you'd seen the rest of the car you would realise that I don't care too much about aesthetics....
