Are the two not connected or why are you taking the engine out to change the clutch?

Reasonably easy job. From memory: passenger seat/carpets out, tunnel cover off, few bolts and hoof gearbox in to passenger footwell. Change clutch and throw it all back together.

They weren't gonna be - first time clutch swap on Spit so haven't read up on it yet - long time before I'm back in UK by the looks of it. If that's the way to go then it'll keep the original motor for now. Engine ( and other ) upgrades can wait until winter then. I'm off to read up on Spitfire clutch swaps, see which way I'll end up doing it. Thanks for the tip though.
