yellow stuff brake pads
Discussion
Another person here saying that Yellowstuff aren't that great.
I've got a set sat in a box upstairs with hardly any wear on them.
The reason for this is that I took them out and replaced them with Pagids after the EBC's left a load of pad deposits on my discs. (Which in turn gave horrendous judder under braking)
The Pagids a quite frankly in a different league. (Although the same is true of their price tag)
The EBC's may be fine if you don't drive hard, but if thats the case why fit a pad that will eat discs and can squeal quite badly.
The one good thing I will say about the EBC's is that the dust off them was very very low.
The opposite is true of my Pagids unfortunately, which is the ONLY thing I don't like about them.

If i recall correctly, your M3 has the same calipers as an R34 Gtr. I'm sure the GTROC would also highly recommend them I've got a set sat in a box upstairs with hardly any wear on them.

EBC New Generation Brake Pads
Hi guys
This is Andy Freeman the owner of EBC Brakes just responding to a few comments.
First guys if you have a failure of our prodeucts our warranty area is real easy to find
Second since I took over this factory in 2002 it has been a long road getting to where we want to be but I am happy to say we are more or less there now. We have a new version of all compounds for 2010/11 release, many on the mareket now. All this info is on our website.
I am looking for a few guys to test some of these new compounds, any takers???
Need some fast street and track drivers with different cars, about 20 people located in USA or UK preferably as carriage would dampen this offer if not due to costs
Let me know
Cheers Andy

Andy S and Busa Rush, I want you in on this test
Lets move forward and not bear grudges guys, were bustiung our asses to improve and listen, we have a lot of good people at our Bristol plant and as far as the comment about AP testing our pads, thats really great from a Company that as far as I know has never made a brake pad in its life. Anyone from AP want to comment on that![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
We also have 5 dynos including the largest scale ONE Dyno in the UK and I think we have a fgood handle on what were doing these days

Last year I had Axis Ultimates on my turbo MX5 and they were great, lasted for about 7 trackdays.
Then I couldn't source them so tried EBC yellow, they fell apart from the edges of the pad, these bits then got wedged against the disc making horrible sounds etc so I took them off and binned them. I thought I maybe didn't bed them in well enough so gave them another go, same happened again so in the bin (the yellow paint did blister and burn off so they certainly got a bit hot). I decided maybe my brakes were simply not up to the task as the car was running sticky tyres and had a lot more power than stock, thought the Axxis must have been an exceptionally good pad to get away with it. I bought a bigger set of brakes off a later car, these have come with a new set of yellows. I'll see how they do when they go on, cars having a full rebuild at the moment so it'll be a while until I find out.
I run Pagid RS4-2 on my other car i've been tracking this year and they are great, look to be lasting well, quiet, work well etc.

Had similar earlier this year. Fitted a set to my VX220 to replace some RS4-2's. Did a couple of hundred road miles and then a trackday where the performance of the brakes were awful, after a couple of hot laps. Checked the brakes the next day and was confronted with this:-![](http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb157/techieboy_vx/pad1.jpg)

Only just seen this thread. Thanks for the offer but brakes are too important to mess with and having had problems with EBC in the past I'd still not want them on my cars or bikes, too risky.Lets move forward and not bear grudges guys, were bustiung our asses to improve and listen, we have a lot of good people at our Bristol plant and as far as the comment about AP testing our pads, thats really great from a Company that as far as I know has never made a brake pad in its life. I'll be honest with you Andy, I've had failures with the greenstuff twice now and I'm very wary of risking the brakes again.Hi guys

However, I do currently have a brake setup which is very hard on the backing bond on the pads (interupted cut from the brake discs), so if they'll stand up to the abuse on that, then they'll probably stand up to any other setup, so if you have something suitable I'm willing try them.
But whatever you have will be going up against Mintex 1144's and Carbotech XP8's, so it'll have stiff competition..

I'm another EBC failure victim.
Greenstuff on a 2004 Corsa 1.2. Probably the most low performance car available. Had to do an emergency stop from 25mph, even with the EBA the car didn't stop, or fire the ABS, it just glided on. Result, side swiping the Megane that was changing lane in to the side of me.
Next day the friction material fell off two of the pads due to the steel backing plate being bent (I assume from the force of the EBA). Basically, the poor performance of the pads made an avoidable collision in to an actual one.
The cheap Lucas pads I replaced the EBC not only stopped the car quicker, they wore the discs less, squeaked less, and cost £15 for the set.
I wouldn't piss on EBC if they were on fire, tbh.

I had a problem with greenstuff on the back of my clio 16v. It was in everyday use but the pad material was clearly coming away from backing plate long before the pads were worn.
However I would be willing to give a new compound a try on the front of my Impreza WRX. 300bhp ish and plenty of fast road driving. Currently run Ferrodo ds performance but they do seem to lack bite!

Well I'm a fairly happy EBC user.
I've got Redstuff on the Mitsubishi and happy with them, daily road driving and odd track day, no squealing and way better than standard brembo pads they replaced.
I've had greenstuff pads on the Camaro and thought they were only average, upgraded to yellowstuff last year and seem way better, handles quick road driving and a track days well, and it's a big heavy car..
Got some bigger discs and calipers with new yellowstuffs to go on so I'll see how these go too.. well I hope.
Never tried Pagid, Carbotech, Carbon Lorraine or the other silly money pads..
