Corroded brake line unions
Discussion
I still haven't gotten round to fitting the axle to my car yet, as lockdown has been eased my free time has dropped for a bit. One question I have still is what do you recommend coating the bare section of the OEM steel pipe with? To use the flaring tool I bought means cutting away a good inch or more of the coating.
I thought I'd provide an update as I hate reading threads where the OP doesn't give an end result.
To cut a long story short I decided to fit my refurbished rear beam to my newer MK8 Civic as my older civic might not last too long... so I only needed to replace the one small section of brake pipe. I've been running it for a couple of weeks now so the flaring tool I was recommended here did the job perfectly, with no leaks.
Thanks to all for the help and advice, brakes are somewhat less scary to work on now that I have this additional skill/set of tools.
