I believe someone mentioned that you can find some cheap tyres online, as black circles want £270 for one tyre for our X5. Has anyone got any cheaper websites for tyres?

Do you want good tyres cheap or do you want cheap tyres?

Not looking for ditch finders - want to keep my warranty and need star marked tyres to do so. There are a select few tyres for our car and we are trying to keep to the same brand. They are Bridgestone Dueler H/P RFT Star Marked - 315/35/R20 tyres.

Mytyres have Vredesteins for £210 fitted or Falkens for £186. If you want premium brands you are paying £270+ wherever you go. Quite why an X5 needs such rediculous size tyres is another question.
Think its down to it being 20" rims that are staggered (for 50:50 weight balance), it being a 315hp car that can go to 150+mph, even though it is 2.2tonnes! Quality tyres are needed for these cars to be at their best.

I am simply trying to get a better price for what are already very expensive, I know a lot about the transfer box issues as they have very complicated 4WD systems. Not looking for ditch finders, just a better price on some bridgestones.

Best, 'Ive got an X5, but i can't afford to maintain it properly' thread ever.

Never cheap out on tyres.
I think bills upwards of £2000 on repairs alone show that we can maintain it. The car isn't leased either.

You mentioned it being in warranty so why £2k on repairs?
Seized callipers weren't covered, neither were seatbelt latches or booster packs.

The Cayenne is on the same width/profile 19" all around. It has 340BHP & is around 2400kg. Mine has just gone onto Vredesteins 275/45 x 19" 108 Y rated. That & and a geo check has hugely improved the general drive & handling. Also quieter which came as a surprise.
Edited to say these came from a local indy tyre dealer at £150 per corner. I could have shaved a few quid off but not a lot.
No staggered setup so any tyres can go on, and are probably not run flat (5 seat cars, spare tyre in the boot). The tyres on the front are much smaller on the X5, 275/40 fronts. It's very laughable to see such large tyres on an SUV though, have to admit.

A question for people who order tyres online for supply only; is there any secret to arranging the fitting and balancing? The few places I've found who will actually fit tyres they haven't supplied want the equivalent of the money saved on the supply (or more) to do so.
A friendly mechanic will fit them for a reasonable price, for us at least. Balancing is a problem and I believe new tyre pressure sensors are needed all around too, so that is a cost. Either way, BMW's are bloody money pits and cost the world to run, but will start every single day and drive as they should do.

Hmm, thinking about fitting prices and the need for sensors too, may be a better idea to get an independent tyre fitter to just do it for us instead, for a reasonable price.

No new sensors required unless the fitter is a ham fisted oaf and damages them.
As long as the wheel goes back in same position it came from on the car and you reset your tpms system via idrive all will be well
That's good to know, thanks!
