Apologies for putting this here but I couldn't find an appropriate forum.

Anyhoos....I was checking the discs on the car and the rear discs are only around 5mm thick. I decided of course I needed to change them and the pads. I checked auto data, and few online sites, and they all say it should be a 310mm vented disc. The ones that are on are solid. Can I do a straight swap out for the vented discs?

Thanks

You are correct.

It requires a whole change of all components. It seems although Lexus brought out the Mk3 in 2005 they never made the change to vented rears until some time in 2006. Probably using up stocks from the Mk2.

Thanks guys. I've ordered solid Ferodos and pads after talking to a stockist.

Just make sure what you're fitting does sit sensible within the caliper body.

Wouldnt be the first car I've seen were some moron in the past has fitted solid discs to a car that should be using vented discs which is utterly dangerous !
Something isn't right with them. I think it is a bodge. When they ran the Vin it says vented 310mm which concurred with my findings. I'll find out at the weekend when I take the wheels off. Plus they are rusty and don't look like they are making much contact (if any). I think you are spot on Stevieturbo
