Nice to see they stuck with it and sorted it for you in the end. And you for having the patience to wait it out for a happy outcome

Its been a while since I started this thread ..................... and seems we arent finished yet ! I cleaned the car on Friday and noticed at the back of the bonnet a 'rash' of bubbling in a half moon shape and another small area near it in a circle. I believe its where someone has lifted the bonnet and not decontaminated it , before it was painted. this is the palm of their hand and thumb prints ! The colder damp weather has caused it to bubble up and the paint go flat too.
So, I emailed him Saturday and he is organising to get the car collected and redone . What a faff this has been ............. sometimes I just think I will buy a crash damaged cars bonnet in black and just swop it over.

Joking apart that might be the best idea!

But with 'glowing' reviews ,
Recently I used a wheel refurbisher with glowing reviews. However, the job he did for me was absolute garbage and then I got a ton of excuses why this was ok.

I left an honest negative review. Before the day was out my review had been removed from Google. I didn't realise they could do this.

A couple of weeks later I received an email asking me to remove the pictures I had uploaded. They pride themselves on their workmanship, positive reviews and their integrity and it wasn't fair for me to leave the pictures so I was told.

It's hard to trust any review site.

Without seeing it in the flesh I'd suggest the bubbling is from the original smart repair carried out in damp conditions.Moisture in/under the primer.
I know they said they'd strip and redo it but more than likely they hit it with a DA and primed over the top the 2nd time.
No amount of respraying is going to stop that permanently.
Needs stripping back and doing again

Difficult to photo , but if this works then this shows some of it. The initial repair from the smart repairs were somewhere else, but this looks like contamination.

There is a couple of areas above the main area, which could be fingers and thumbs and the light is stopping showing about 50% of the bubbling.

Call me a glutton for punishment and car is booked for next Tuesday for Round 5 of 'Paint my Bonnet' . I hope I don't get that ghastly low rent Juke again, as it wont move on the drive.
I did look at a replacement breaker bonnet in black and was £249 , which was a bit steep and to collect from Southampton, was no hardship but lets see how this 'version' turns out.............

The only thing you have to watch with replacing entire panels which are the "same" colour code, is that often the shade will vary a little... due to age and sun fading the paint, or small variations in the paint colour from batch to batch....difficult to guarantee that a bonnet from a breaker wouldn't be a little off over the entire panel compared to the rest of the car.

So, yesterday was wash day. First time since the respray. First time I could see whats going on. So, the usual snowfoam, 2 buckets, etc etc, brush out all the compound left under the bonnet and engine and what do I see in the sun today ? Well apart from heavy marring and swirls on the bonnet, as it did the last time from lack of finishing, they somehow have either oversprayed the grill surround and horizontal lower lip of the front panel or had chucked gun wash or something on it, as its all gone flat and the gloss has gone.
I am in two minds here. Tell him to sort it or give the detailer next to my office the job and submit the bill to them. Usually I am not a patient bloke, although I have with this, but its now 'really' starting to niggle................Thoughts ?

I did have chips away do my 2 year old Impreza Sti when a neighbours kid did exactly the same.

It was the black with the gold metallic flake and should be a nightmare to match by hand mixing, but he did it perfectly. Could not tell at all.

Wish I had kept his name and address.

Further written complaint to head office but this time telling them that as they have now had several attempts at it & there are still issues you are unwilling to accept another attempt by their network & what do they propose to do about it.

Hopefully this will work of part of the grille. I was annoyed to clean the car and walk away, so by the time I went to photo it, the sun had faded............. Shows a section and a line of normal colour.
