Industrial strength alloy wheel cleaner
Discussion
The geyeon Ines I use suggest tar first.
I finally got round to doing the wheels on my BMW daily driver last week, leaving them fitted to the car though.
This is the only picture I have, but the front wheels in particular were coated in baked on brake dust. They probably could have done with another coat of fall out remover and a clay bar, but didn't bother as it is just my daily.

Avoid Bilt Hamber auto-wheel cleaner. Not only does it stink, it's absolutely rubbish. I scrubbed for ages and still had baked on brake dust on the inside edge (yeah, I removed the wheels to clean them).
I then bought some old school Wonder Wheels and it shifted what Bilt Hamber couldn't very quickly.
After getting the baked on stuff shifted, I keep them clean with Astonish alloy wheel cleaner. £1 from the pound stores and it does the job just fine.
