Morning
2004 fiesta diesel 1.4
Abs light was on for a while, I acquired forescan and it's coming up as something like c1095(forgot to take a pic) abs pump no earth or something.

I'm assuming it's not cheap to fix?
Thinking s/h bit any reputable breakers out there or is it just off to eBay?

As far as I can work out it's remove them replace the forescan to assist with the abs brake bleeding?

If it's reported as "no earth" it's probably just a corroded earth connection, few minutes' job to clean it . . . once you've found it. A broken earth wire is also a possibility.

Or maybe a mechanic to fix it ? Long shot obviously.

It's a option, trouble is most of them want to just replace with new bits, not really worth it on £800 motor

Then they are not mechanics, they're idiot parts changers.

Although given value of the car....hard for any solution really.

Bit of an update...... today I managed to get the used abs pump in and booted up forescan and........it needs coding to the system
So I'm going to remove it tomorrow and fit the orig ECU to the newer pump

It's really not that expensive to send your own ABS unit away to have it repaired, and you can then be confident that it works straight away when you get it back... no coding issues, and with a warranty...

That's the nex step, maybe it should have been the first?

Can you turn the light off in the system and just drive it with no ABS?

Is the test whether a telltale fails to extinguish?

Or does the test include whether it is present in the first place?

Interesting...

So the MOT database includes information on which vehicles have ABS and which do not, therefore which should have telltale lights and which should not?

Cars with ABS have a visible warning light, you can see it even if not lit. No need to have a database, it shows clearly in the dashboard.

.... and besides, obligatory on all cars built since 2004.

All cars? Even low volume manufacturers' vehicles?

[/pedant] wink

I'm not sure having a space for a telltale/lamp can be the defining characteristic of whether the system/item it would be used for should be there. What happens for vehicles with 100% digital dashboards?

Update....the fiesta went to the scrap yard today.

I sent the abs pump/unit off for a refurb, should be about £170-200
After about a week I had a txt so gave them a ring, can't be fixed but for £600+ we can rebuild it
I declined, the car was only a stop gap and only cost £750
