I check pressures regularly in line with the info on the sticker in the door jamb, but these rear tyres I had changed yesterday definitely look to have worn more in the middle.
Is 2 bar too low on a 530d for the rear? These have worn like this after 18k miles at 2.2 bar

I'd suggest that your pressure gauge is underreading!

Rear wheel drive cars do this on the rear. Perfectly normal. I wouldn’t go trying to compensate for it by reducing the pressures unless you have other causes to suspect that you’d be better off running a lower pressure.

In future rotate your rear tyres to the front when they get down to 4/5mm.

A) many BMWs are 'staggered' setups so this isn't possible

B) even if you could 'rotate' them, you shouldn't have tyres with deeper tread on the front, you want them on the rear.

Granted. However, many aren't- in which case it is.

If you started out with a matched set, and it's a rear wheel drive car, the tyres removed from the front axle will be less worn than the rear tyres- ergo...

Unfortunately, for us to have the full story we would need to know if you have had these on & checked them from the tyres being new, otherwise any difference in wear pattern could be from before then.

Personal opinion if so would be as above the pressure gauge you are using is reading low.

On top of this I would never personally recommend using bar for tyre pressure readings as many go no more accurate than 0.1 which is 1.5 psi, yet if you use a PSI gauge for checking 0.1 psi is around 0.007 bar, so the reading is much more accurate.

Those were the second pair I have had fitted.

I have switched to using psi from now on. We will see how it goes.

What are you using to check the pressures with & have you checked it for accuracy also?

I’ve found that the gauges fitted to DIY compressors to inflators tend to be inaccurate. I grabbed a sealey TSTPG12 key ring guage earlier this year , not exactly small but it’s digital and does the job. It is also much more accurate than the one attached to my compressor via the airline, which was roughly 3psi out.

As above. I've had multiple BMWs since the 1990s and they have all done this. They are especially prone if you do a lot of high speed motorway driving.
