DIY paint protection film?
Discussion
I've just ordered a van for work which, in the way of these things, comes with body coloured bumpers as part of a package of extras that I do want.
I suspect I will knacker the paint on the top of the rear bumper pretty rapidly getting ladders and so forth in and out.
I think the easy fix would be to apply a rectangular sheet of some kind of clear protective film on that area (Paintshield put one there on my Focus when I had that done and it's invaluable).
What raw material do I need and is it a practical DIY job for an idiot?

Quite a good thread here listing some of the different types available.

I can't see it being too hard to apply, it's not like you are fitting it to the contours of a supercar.

In the end I took your advice and bought one of these for about £40.Before (you can see how easily damageable this painted area would be on a van):
After:
Fitting is pretty easy, you've got to remove the tape off one end of the self-adhesive strips, then whip it off from underneath once in position. Can't do it beforehand as it's super-sticky!
