Hi Guys,

I'm just about to get a new car, but I want the windows tinting. Being new, I'd like a top job, can anybody recommend a quality company in the UK? I actually live in South Wales.

Thanks.
Rob :-)

Why do you want to look like a drug dealer.

cant vouch for an installer, but i can vouch for 3m as a brand.. had their film installed on a car for years no discolouration or tears whatsoever. llumar is also up there with 3m as a brand. just make sure they do the rear screen in 1 piece no joints otherwise itll drive you crazy

Thank you for the brand advice smile

Tint is standard on the next trim level up, I ordered the wrong car, so just need to add the tint. It's an estate car, so want it to hide my stock when full. Wow, a whole estate full of drugs, that would be quite some payday LOL !

I always thought that Pentagon were seen as the best, but I have never used them myself so cannot verify.

Look for a good wrapping company, wrapping folks all do tints.

Try Mark Lively at Lively Race Graphics in your area , or Tintinit but they're based at Thruxton .

Can recommend tint wizard in Liverpool if you fancied a trip. Had a couple of my cars done by him and really good job.

Pentagon are a well respected nationwide tinting company but afaik they will only tint the glass behind the B pillar due to legalities.

Old School Windscreens in Surrey, we always use them at work and we recommend them, however they could be a bit of a trek for you, however you could make a day of it and visit Mercedes World and Brooklands, whilst in the area.

Trouble with after factory tints I've yet to find an installer/film that can cover up the 'mottled' areas of the window just before the black frame at the outer edges. You see this most on rear windows and can tell from a distance it's after market. There must be a way around it?

I think most of the top end companies have mastered that now. Some actually file the dot matrix off the glass, some paint in between the dots with a black paint and some fill the spaces around the dots with a clear resin to make the surface flat. What you can see on poor tints is the air space between the slightly raised dots where the tinting film is not in contact with the glass.

On the industrial park where my unit is, a few doors down, theirs a ropey looking tinting outfit. The local jaguar dealership regularly drop off un registered cars to have the windows tinted.

Thank you guys.

One name that keeps popping up is Pentagon. That name has indeed come up here again. My local branch is Bristol. I have been given a price today of £300 for the top of the range carbon ceramic tint on a large estate car. It's not the lowest price I could have been quoted, but I think I'll get what I pay for and it's guaranteed for life!

The car is brand new and I full intend to keep it until the wheels fall off, so I'll get my moneys worth from it.

I'll post my thoughts and pics when it's done :-)

Rob.
