A, ahem, "close personal friend" of mine has picked up a bit of a fag burn to the passenger seat of her (very nice) VW Eos. Now, it's a company/lease car and, come the time to hand it back, it obviously has to be in good nick, so she would like to get it repaired.

Does anyone have any experience of companies who offer "invisible" repairs to car seats (or at least to a standard that would satisfy the lease company)? Can they just patch it up, or would a whole new seat "cover" be required?

She does have the option of buying it instead of giving it back, which is something she's seriously considering as she absolutely loves the car. If she did keep it, the repair would be less of an issue - but if the price was reasonable she might get it done anyway.

NB: This thread is not - repeat is not - to descend into a lecture about the evils of smoking in cars or just smoking in general. Thank you.

Any decent smart repair guy should be able to sort it for under 50 quid
Really?

Can they get "swatches" of the seat fabric from VW and make a patch, or is it a bit more complicated than that?

Ask your local VW dealer who they use, or maybe even get them to do it but ask if they'll guarantee it'll meet the lease return standard.
So there's hope. Thanks, I'll pass this on.
