Hello,

Any suggestions on how to tackle this on an old shed that I'd like to keep on the road?

Is it saveable - not looking for factory finish just something at will keep it running for a bit longer.

Many thanks,

Thanks for replies.

Yes, it's e39 and mostly an okay running e39 530d manual tourer with some rust now showing in the usual places.

A few more photos showing the worst of the rust - the rest of it being okay. It's had some welding at the lifting points already.

The front wings can be replaced by patern parts, but rear arches are not something you can pickup parts for I wouldn't imagine?

Not sure if worth saving or should I really just move on before it becomes a money pit? Not using it for daily commuting but it is handy for shifting stuff to the tip and trips away. Appears to be worh half of nothing which makes we want to keep it all the more.

What's the collective PH opinion - worth keeping just for the "art of shedding" factor?

Many thanks,

Thanks - yes the wings do just bolt on so (fairly easy) swap at £200 painted and fitted.

Rear arches are more of a worry - MOT due next month so will see how it goes - was just trying to understand what options might be.

It's worth more in spares than as a whole thing.

Glacier Green/Grun? If so I have a passenger front wing & tailgate in that colour in a lot better condition.
Yes indeed that's the colour!

In for MOT mid may so if it does pass might take you up on the offer if parts are for sale.

The jacking points will probably be very rusty. The rest is cosmetic but not really worth repairing.
Already been repaired at last MOT so hopefully not get any worse in the past 12 months.

If shedding...stick it in for test and see how much it'll cost just for basic roadworthiness.

If its a massive spend break or sell spares or repair.

Cosmetics are a secondary consideration.
Indeed - not fussed on cosmetics just trying to keep the shedding dream on the road!

The old girl passed her MOT - so another year of bangernomics might just be possible.
