Smelly, nasty, noisy, heavy.
Fuel efficiency of the elise is already very reasonable. Not at all taken with the idea, still, let's wait and see.

I'm not fussed about it being a diesel because a welly load of torque in that stumpy motor could be hilarious in the wet.

Lotus have done a great deal of work on Active Noice Cancellation and Active Sound Synthesis.

Nope, got one on my desk - can't hear a thing.

Sorry mate - it sounds intruging, but I couldn't resist. Should be interesting!

I hope this dosent try to replace the Elise
I would welcome a car like this into the lotus brand along with the M250
If lotus put it into production it would have to be below the Elise by 2010 i hope lotuses lineup looks like this
M250
Elise S2 [perhaps S3 or facelifted]
Ecos

To me the ECOS is in response to the fact (like giving the Elise carpets and Air-Con) that there are lunatics like me about who want to drive one everyday to work in the rush hour (I'm scared of motorbikes you see) and still blat about like a kangaroo on speed at the weekend. (Its not an insurance issue or a cost issue its purely that everytime I've ever had even a slightly sporty car the hatchback only lives to block the garage way and take stuff to the tip.)

I think the ECOS is an interesting car for lotus and I'm sure if it looks anything like the mockups on this site then it will sell in bucketloads. Elises don't sound sexy - if you want noise buy a TVR. If you want handling buy a lotus - diesel or not.

Any way which would you rather a drive - a eurowagon or a slightly dampened Lotus???

Correct me if I'm wrong but the M250 was canned, ages ago.
