Thanks, I like it too smile

Regarding stripes etc, back in the day including my own there were 4 MK1 RS2's that I was familiar with, 2 green one blue, all with the large stripes.
The only pinstripe one was black with red pinstripe, I think the large stripes were not availiable for black ?

I do prefer the large stripes, red obviously but white with blue, and blue on blue being my favourite,,,, oh, and green yellow, orange ',,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Correct. No stripes ever offered on factory black or the Vista Orange cars.

Factory black cars would have had gold pinstripes from the factory.

I remember a factory black RS2000 with red pinstripes in the early 80's, was a nice car, wood dash/centre console etc and was running a set of 'fake' Minilite style rims, the make of which escapes me now, but it wasn't Superlight. I might have a photo of it somewhere?

My Dad bought one new in 73. White with the triple red pinstripes and the steel wheels Which were far more preferable in my view. Well more so today as they’re unusual to find.

Wish I could remember the reg number.

Looks very much like a Firenza front on with the perpex covers, not a bad idea TBH, as the lights were quite expensive even in the 80's!
I think they were reasonably common on the 4-headlight RS2000s
As you say, those lights were expensive and £9 saved you from the hassle ( even less if you made your own from a sheet of Perspex )

Here’s a period ad from Fibresports for them
( top left of page )

I think Ripspeed used to do them for twice the price too!

I remember Penthouse reviewing a fast Ford with a scantily clad lady posing next to the boot badge with the article entitled 'What an RS!'

Regrettably it was a Sierra Sapphire and not an Escort. Predictably in that lilac colour too.

Do any of you chaps write for Car Mechanics?

This month's edition has a six page spread on Ford four pots from 1965.

Not me, i have trouble writing on here, let alone professionally.

4 pots from 65,,,,, so i surmise, the Twin cam in the Mk 1 Cortina was the most exotic at that time ?

Not really a Ford engine though was it......other than paying Lotus to supply them.

Depends if 'Ford 4-pots from '65' includes bought in engines, or just Ford designed engines?

It was. and when Ford started putting it in the Mk.2 Cortina, they referred to it officially as the Lotus-Ford Twin Cam...... whistle

A guess of when the X-flow appeared would be either when the Mk.2 Cortina came out, or soon after, as the 1600E had the X-Flow, and the first Capri's in 1969 had it as well.

Not quite, early mk2's carried over the pre crossflow.

Of course. Sorry. I was in 1600E mode. First 'E' appeared in 67 on a F suffix.

Early 1600E also inherited the 4 gauges on the dash top from the GT rather than alongside speedo and tacho of later revision car scratchchin

Yep, along with the X-Flow engine GT that first went on sale in September 1967.
