That's not a good angle, is it?Volante is still a lovely looking car, not something i'd ever want to own as I imagine it would drive like an over-powered pram, but still great to see being used as opposed to being sat in some car-dealer's gin palace or a private storage barn.
I recall a few years ago I joined the M1 from the A42, pulled out in to lane 3 and had a similar-looking DB6 Volante behind me. We were stuck together for a while through the 50mph

I do remember pulling into a petrol station in Fulham in the late 80s and seeing a DB5 Convertible. I wandered over to chat to the owner as I rather idolise DB5s. What I hadn't realised that the owner was Viscount Linley. He wasn't exactly enamoured with being doorstepped by a petrolhead.

I've never like the DB6 Volante. DB5 convertible is better but I still prefer the coupé.

The Short Chassis Volante is the one to have. As the DB5 gave way to the DB6, AML were left with 37 (I think it was) DB5 chassis frames. These became the first Volantes and bridged the gap between the DB5 Convertible and the DB6 Volante. (AstonZagato knows this, I'm explaining for anyone interested in AM trivia.)

If my memory serves me right, a magazine in the 1980s gave away a DB6 Volante as a prize. They obviously didn’t have the same value back then, but still a very, very nice prize.
I believe it was Classic & Sportscar. They also gave away a pair of MGs (a TD and a then-new Maestro) and later a 911. I think they stopped when the 911 appeared on eBay / Autotrader shortly afterwards, despite a warning that entry to the competition meant you agreed to do a "My Classic"-type piece for the mag.The Aston competition was run over 3 issues, Oct-Dec 1982:

In the early 70's, when an impecunious student struggling to keep a Riley 1.5 on the road, I recall seeing a silver Volante or possibly a DB5 convertible for sale somewhere in Tolworth. I seem to remember the price being about £1000 - could that possibly have been correct ? I know in those days I never paid any more than £100 for a running car with some sort of MoT.I do remember pulling into a petrol station in Fulham in the late 80s and seeing a DB5 Convertible. I remember looking at Aston Martin's and Mustangs and the like in Exchange and Mart around 1980 for £1000 not that I ever had £1000 to spar back then!
My matching numbers DB4 project car was £2,000 in 1981. I sold it in pieces in 1991 for £10,000 during my divorce and thought I'd won the big prize.I looked at a DB5 for about £900 in about 1974, painted in "mink" but rotten to the core. As DickyC says you could get a project for low £K in the early 80s, but a running car was about £4K by about 1980. My rotbox was £4500 in 1979, and my first repair bill rather than service costs was £5200 in 1983. Its latest bill is about £10K for gearbox rebuild, new hubs and discs all round but it is a 170,000 mile car. There is a DB6 Volante which was modified for racing in the 80s, and it was very quick. There's also a Mark 2 Volante still with its original owner

Around 1980 I knew someone who had a ‘64 DB5 and an ‘70 MGB, both of which were a bit scabby and both of which he wanted to shift. I had the use of the DB5 over a weekend which was great fun, despite it not being very nice to drive and costing me a fortune in fuel. He wanted £3k for the Aston, but I bought the B for £650. Aged 19 I couldn’t afford to run a 4ltr guzzler and didn’t have a spare 3 grand either

So today in a town close to were I live and ow, was born long time ago, there was a big classic and oldtimer car day, also classic mopeds, but did not made pictures of those, I looked though, many good memories from the time I was driving them, like Zundapp's and Yamaha's and so on, even some I did not even know, but looked like Kreidlers.
anyhow, made some pictures of a few of the many many cars spread in the center of the town, all streets were closed for it and the weather was very good as well, so many people came, some places very busy, not easy to make pictures, so then wait and click :-)
made 32 pictures which I share, there were a few hundred cars.
this mini was funny, look at the door lock haha, to the letter a lock.
