So today in a town close to were I live and ow, was born long time ago, there was a big classic and oldtimer car day, also classic mopeds, but did not made pictures of those, I looked though, many good memories from the time I was driving them, like Zundapp's and Yamaha's and so on, even some I did not even know, but looked like Kreidlers.

anyhow, made some pictures of a few of the many many cars spread in the center of the town, all streets were closed for it and the weather was very good as well, so many people came, some places very busy, not easy to make pictures, so then wait and click :-)
made 32 pictures which I share, there were a few hundred cars.

this mini was funny, look at the door lock haha, to the letter a lock.

You might not know this in NL, Rene, but there is a UK TV series called "Mr Bean", starring Rowan Atkinson (who is a huge petrolhead). This is a replica of Mr Bean's Mini.

Ha ha! What an absolute horror show! 1983 Excalibur Phaeton mk IV. Arnie has one - fitting really.

Everything else there looks fab. E30 3 series, Alfa and Merc 300 SEL (6.3?) look lovely

Great variety of cars Rene, as above those Opel's are nice.
The Datsun 100A Cherry (in UK) are a rare sight, that's a fine example.

Had a black 100A Cherry back in the day was persuaded to change it for the next "cherry" in the series which was worse in every way except rust

Thanks all.

@turbobanana,

ah that must have been it, there was also a stuffed animal in the cabin, at least I heard a child shouting about it and the dad said, looks almost like (then I heard something like Bean) but never thought of such lock on Mr Bean's car, to long ago to remember, I only remember the part he sitting on a chair on his car steering with some threads :-)

@Escort3500, I also saw some escort, at least 1 escort mk1 Mexico and yes, many Opels as well, some very nice ones, at those days many Opels from around were rallying in local rally's like the Hellendoorn rally, so I guess a lot members from that era.

@generationx, that X-pack Fiesta looked indeed very nice, my first thought was it was a wide body VW Golf :-) then I looked longer and ow, also that van Heek motorsport (sun band in window), that man also raced a lot in rally's long time ago, tuned many cars.

@Dapster, hahah, that Excalibur was indeed horror, but to crazy and long not to picture, extremes
and yes, some very nice E30 325 cars, not sure about that 300 sel, not looked for that (forgot) there were also some older big high Mercedes cars, also a Bolhoed? looked high Bolhoed ala Britisch John Steed hat.

@Maxdecel, that Datsun looked lovely, really cared for, now rare, but in those days you saw them often, I heard some people walking by it saying to their partner or friend, look, I had such long time ago, or hey, my drivers Licence I got in such car, many smiles that day.

In 1981, four of us went on holiday in one, all the way from Oxford to Paignton - a fair trip 40+ years ago. Needless to say, the Cherry overheated on the M5 … happy days …

Back in the late 70’s I was driving home from Goodwood along the A27 around Chichester towards Portsmouth. I was in a Mk 2 RS2000 X pack. I came up behind a rather nice blue DB6 Volante going quite quickly. Two chaps in it, the passenger occasionally holding on the driver’s flat cap as we approached 3 figure speeds. He certainly was not hanging around; I was more than happy following along.

When they turned off [towards Portsmouth I seem to recall] I sped up alongside to get a look at the driver who just happened to be our current King smile
I had a similar experience in the mid 1980s driving from Swindon to Malmesbury on a sweeping B road. I wasn't exactly dawdling, but I was quickly caught and overtaken by the then Prince of Wales at the helm of his Volante. It made a glorious noise and he obviously enjoyed driving it properly (or was late for an appointment at Highgrove)!

I vividly remember entering that Aston competition in Classic and Sportscar.

Peasants. I had a Datsun 120Y Coupé. I know. Supercar territory, right?

He got about a lot in his Aston! We saw him quite a few times in the eighties, usually near Sherston or Westonbirt and often accompanied by a black RR with big men in it smile

Our parents had a blue Datsun Cherry 120A. They were fairly rare at the time. I don’t think I have seen one in 40 years.
