Agreed! It was surprising, the DKWs from 15-or-so years before were nowhere near as loud, it definitely sounded like the sort of thing you'd need earplugs even driving it!

In 1926 a specially prepared Renault 40CV NM averaged 107mph over 24 hours at Montlhery.

That is nothing short of heroic…
