Clear indicators look wrong, for me at least...needs tango.
Agree with that , I have a hatred for clear indicators on anything to be honest .
I went to the local Italian car spares shop on the way home from buying my latest car to buy orange indicators for it .
I also find that orange are much easier to see in use on a very sunny day .
Orange bulbs behind clear lenses? If you don't like the 'fried egg' look fit chromed bulbs that flash orange.
When I removed the clear lenses I was surprised to find not orange bulbs but a deflector of some sort with clear bulbs so I just screwed on the orange covers and they flash nice n bright .smile

Apologies for the high and dry in the picture. The DS looked really well.

Interestingly Italy mandated white front indicators on all cars until sometime in the 70's, and due to the high number of cyclists and crowded cities, also mandated side indicator repeaters years before any other market. These had to be amber, so cars had to have either white front indicators and separate amber side repeaters, or if they had a single wrap around unit, a white front facing lens and amber section on the side!

Italian market

Rest of Europe

US

My memory of holidays in Europe as a kid were the Italian cars with tiny front number plates and white indicator lenses

Were the Krays around?

They were North of the river. South of the river were the Richardsons. Tiny bit less famous than the Krays but supposedly rougher / more successful - probably because they weren't weirdos.

Driving (hence the Google Maps screengrab) through mid Suffolk yesterday I spotted this Opel Kadett Coupe, looking in better condition than to qualify for the "Classics left to dies / rotting thread". Haven't seen one on the road in years.

The stock list has changed since Google captured it (August this year), but includes at least 3 Morris Minors and an old Fordson Tractor.

Forgive the fact this isn’t a car.

At my Father-in-law’s barn.

1979 County 1184TW long wheel base, forestry spec.

Almost completed restoration.

Superb! The restoration of these things is made infinitely easier by the whole mechanics of the thing just being assembled then sprayed in one colour! If only car engine bays were as simple …

Exactly!

Originally a James forestry conversion from new.

Love the County 4 wheel drive system that physically links the 2 driven wheels on each side from bevel gears in the hubs.

Most sensible.

Pretty aren't they? Unfortunately they all seem to end up as historic rally cars or "hillclimb monsters" with random aero and screaming red-top engines.

Little Midget (sorry, Small Car) being used in a damp, murky south Essex today. Tiny in the “normal” parking spaces!
