the E-Type 2+2 lives just round the corner from me, pity you can't see the whole car as it's on Wolfrace wheels...
Just as well we can't see it then aeropilot said:

Just as well we can't see it then Thought this may be interesting my late fathers E type and was hand painted council green (it really was ex council paint) not long after purchase (eccentric bloke) I first see it as a nipper in 76 on a flying visit post purchase , bizarrely I found these images on Google memorising only part of the reg plate Yes I was surprised too, it was just curiosity really I know E type's seldom just disappear, it had been off the road since about 1982 tax expired earlier but back then living rural Kent you could drive around for years un-taxed he often did I recall been restored in the last few years from what I gather so no idea wher its been since being dragged out of a domestic garage in 96, So glad its been saved I have vivid memories of this iconic car and FHC series 1's are my favorite Back in original colour again and nut N bolt resto hats off to the restorers its simply stunning Anyway ..... .............. .. .. .. .. ..

The Porsche style duck tail on the back deserves a thread all by itself! That is some resurrection...
I think my 'ideal' E-Type would be a lightweight replica / homage in silver or British racing green with a factory hardtop and wide Dunlop alloys, or a nice early FHC in gunmetal with red interior...

There is a perverse side to me that prefers it in "council green" particularly the rear number plate glued (presumably) to the bonnet. I fondly imagine the interioir with Gaffer Tape seats and threadbare carpets. Yes, it is beautiful as restored but there is something about a "patinated" car. (Yes, I know it is more "knackered" than "patinated" but...)

I get this ^ Its a little over restored but I presume its the done thing with the E type due to values and deep pocketed customers no doubt, in saying this the fact its a matching numbers car had a load of spares and v complete inc interior right down to an 8 track player (maybe a few shell cases too) , but less so a Flintstone floor pan and a lack of metal in many areas or certainly did when I see it back in 96 Yes, it is beautiful as restored but there is something about a "patinated" car. I can relate to that, but it obviously needed major work and it does seem a bit pointless to only half restore it once it is in bits! That's my dream model E-Type, but ideally in Red (like the Corgi model my mate had when I was in primary school).
