The Range Rover Classic thread
Discussion
Spotted this 4 door on eBay earlier today. I knew I recognised it and found the screenshots I'd taken last year. It does make me wonder how many cars are actually sold as opposed to being jobbed on from dealer to dealer at ever higher asking prices...
As for the chances of this car being worth that, based on a crap ad from a no-name dealer: zero. But I'd be pleased if good ones did get there eventually !

DIY SOS was on last night and had a RR classic. Not sure if its been on before, but its the first time I've seen it.
They are still a really big itch I need to scratch. Anyone know a non-LSE 3.9 which I can have a quick go in? You know, just to get it out of my system...
why non-LSE 3.9?They are still a really big itch I need to scratch. Anyone know a non-LSE 3.9 which I can have a quick go in? You know, just to get it out of my system...
I have a 4.2 LSE if that is any good?!

eh? virtually all non LSE V8s are either 3.5 or 3.9. There are a handful of autobiography 4.2 in SWB cars plus the conversions. And the LSEs are all 4.2 V8. Diesels don't count :-)They are still a really big itch I need to scratch. Anyone know a non-LSE 3.9 which I can have a quick go in? You know, just to get it out of my system...
Is that what you meant? I've a 4.2 LSE too if that helps
That's because people keep forgetting to fit the supercharger.
I'm looking forward to trying one of these with a Rotrex fitted. I can't say I've ever been a fan of the conventional SC conversions. While you have the fun of huge torque from the get go all you're ultimately doing is consuming vast amounts of fuel and stressing the drivetrain when just pottering about.
With the Rotrex working like a turbo you don't get the boost until 2-4K ( depending on how you set it) so if you opt for a cog that gets it up and running at around 2k then you should be able to potter about with the SC doing nothing but have up to double the stock power when you bury your foot.
Will be interesting learning if the concept works.

Anglia Car Auctions have a low mileage one coming up, will be interesting to see in the real world where this ends up

Will be interesting. The market growth looks to be early 4 doors now.
I wonder if the mileage is 20k or 120k? Which would explain the convenient loss of paperwork for a car that looks to have been well looked after as it seems to have scrubbed up well?
I'm also guessing the MOT fail might have been structural hence not repaired quickly?

Quite handy if you are looking at a used car, or if you are just being nosy.

I suspect it will end up in the £8-10K range. The appetite for 2 doors doesn’t seem to be slowing up. Being an original uk RHD car seems to add a premium, and the mot history above hints at it not being a basket case, which means it could go for more. http://www.angliacarauctions.co.uk/en/classic-auct...
Ready for the latest interior porn?
Today is T -1 week. To say I’m excited is an understatement.
What I always wanted was the retro coolness of an early RR... vertical grille, simple dash etc, but with a bit of bespoke touches here and there - because why not, that’s the fun of a project, whilst not losing the look and feel of the original. I think that’s been accomplished.
The wood was sanded, lacquered and polished - a nice dark finish to set off the dark carpet and trim
Correct satin black on pillars and wheel arches also visible

Thanks chaps
MOT tomorrow - fingers crossed!
You can’t do an MOT without mirrors so Twenty Ten got busy. I had the correct 1982 mirrors. But they turned out to be wobbly and didn’t have the fitting kits. FFS.
So for the first time I’ve compromised on what I wanted and what I thought would look right. Not the end of the world just annoying.
Also a minor thing but adjustable bonnet stops fitted which should prevent that bad alignment you often see
Good news is new windscreen is in and collection is still scheduled for Saturday

That's looking great. I'm just waiting for a dash top from Trevor ( he's trimming it for me), before fitting the left and right Monteverdi binnacles and sticking it in the car to mount the rest of the aircon etc bits in. I ought to update my two door thread.
Re the mirrors, if you're going to be using the car every day in normal driving conditions then those later mirrors will be infinitely better than either the door or bonnet ones.
Mine currently has the 80s door mirrors but as I've moved out of London to the countryside I'm going to risk the bonnet mirrors. Aesthetics over practicality.
