Probably a 2.8. I`d be tempted to race it again. Shame. I thought banger boys weren`t in it for the money.

In the build pics it has the later XJ pump. Looks like the correct damper and Carbs. The motor sits right.

No, its a 3.8 early lump, its an original lump, not a later xj lump as theyre alot taller than this one, think i may have got the numbers wrong as i was doin it from memory, dont really matter now, sold either way

What's the future of the Jaguar then? Is it being restored or banger raced?

What is the replacement?

Block height on 3.4, 3.8 and 4.2 are all the same. If its a short block is a 2.4, or a 2.8.

The 3.4, 3.8 and 4.2 lumps are all the same size, it's the 2.4 (and I guess 2.8, and for the really pedantic E2As 3L) lump which is shorter.

Contour Autocraft want a lot more that £30K just for a new body. Like £49K and you still need to add a bonnet and boot lid which Lawrence never had.

not too sure, its got 3.8 written on the block, and it is a damn site shorter than any later jag xj6 engine ive seen

Probably as it sits lower in the car. If it says 3.8 on the block, its definitely the same height as a 4.2, as they only changed the bore size to increase the capacity.

Here is a picture of the 3.4L engine in mine. It now has a 4.2 and is the same size.

From the little picture of a picture of your engine I couldn't tell exactly where it was relative to the back of the engine bay. Sorry I couldn't find an example from when the bonnet was off.

I hope everyone who was having a go at you for racing the jag is now going to transfer their vitriol to the person killing the car and not restoring it wink

Or maybe they'll realise that people can do pretty much what they like with their own property - good luck with the Rover!

ive finally lost me rag now to be honest with people complaining about what I do whith MY property, why does it make you sick, its only a hobbie, and the thing that really gets to me, is the people who say banger racings for pikeys, and its ruining the classic cars and it 'makes them sick.;' half the time dont even no the basic idea of banger racing or the history behind the car thats getting raced. So if i hadnt of got the car, and someone else had got it, and either just scrapped it straight away like we were asked of stripped it of everything then scrapped it wouldnt of been a waster? MY CAR, MY CHOICE OF WHAT HAPPENS TO IT.

For the rover, im now going to enjoy this bit where i tell you it is a very clean car, with only surface rust on it, engine is complete with a load of spares, probably ran but we decided to rip it out and replace it with a mk2 escort 1300 xflow wich has only done 33000 miles since new!
I wouldnt have put it like that, but after the stupid comments ive been getting over what is frankly a bit of metal ive had enough, i new it would cause a stir, but didnt think it would make some people bh and moan like they, have, not everyone, as some people have fairly expressed there opinions wile others have jsut said somthin without anything to back it up. And the answer to anthoer comment, im willing to bet my right arm that the bloke who has just bought the jag to just tear it apart will NOT et ANY comments for what he is doing as he isnt a baner driver

Rant over!
