If they’re standard RR ones, none of them are particularly rare.

It would appear to be running standard RR rims now, personally I think they are right for that vintage but do prefer them colour coded as per SE trim. Martyn

Ask him for a pic and then we’ll know what wheels they are. Most RR wheels are easily sourced for reasonable money.

Suspect you’ll find some cheaper than this:

I suspect so, I picked up a set of 5 of the TWR alloys for £120 last year to use as a spare set whilst I send the originals off for refurb during the rebuild.

With patience, I’m sure a set will come along at an ok price, as they were used on both RR’s and Defenders.

100,000 miles with a 5.7 equates to about £60k in fuel biggrin

The original owner should have been sent a Christmas card by King Fahd.

I know thats what I thought ! ..of all the vehicles to do 275,000 miles in... a Range Rover Petrol V8 is most definitely not the first thing to spring to mind

I used to get 4.5mpg out of mine in London and on the motorway it seemed to deliver 16mpg regardless of whether it cruised at 65 or 90.

2 thoughts on the wheels...they are important to the overall look of the car. And those standard 3 spokers dont look right on an Overfinched car.

plus..if they are running 205s thats not much tyre for a 5.7 v8 !

have a look at twenty ten's facebook page - they have just taken in a rusty but similar vintage 1986 Overfinch, I have no idea what the plan is but they may be able to help

the value for your car can only be realised if every last detail is correct and its presented as a kind of super rare collectible

Aren't they also slightly larger, thus fecking up the rear parcel shelf and spare cover?

dont know about the wheel width but you may be correct

on my own car I've taken the approach of a large can of tyre weld in the cubby box, and no spare

observations after a few miles:

-overall loving it
-really positive reaction from people ranging from bikers to Kwikfit tyre man
-love the fact its classic but useable
-plenty of oomph albeit in reality rarely go over about 3k revs
-slickshift has made for a v short throw gearlever which feels good
-suspension is maybe the only area I'm not happy - I think its a bit nuggety and whilst it does corner pretty well for a car with no anti roll bars, the ride is a bit busier than I hoped. So maybe a change in the future

My 89 doesn't have arbs. They do make a big difference in the driving style.

If the steering isn't tight though then that's a different matter.

My 92 does have arb's and I think rides and handles really well for such an older designed vehicle, I do have 235/70's fitted to the standard wheels though. I have kept a 205 on the spare as I see it as an equivalent of a space saver, not all tyre fitters like the goo in side after a puncture as some need cleaning properly because of what is in the product.
With regard to those overfinch wheels, personally I think the multi spoke split rim looks too "max power / custom car" look for me. Martyn

This is an 86 converted from new.
I thought the wheels looked smart.
We removed the side decals but left the 'super ranger' badges
