To be fair, it does say "Renault" in massive white letters across the back of the car. The A310 was already in production as the Alpine A310 before Renault bought the company, but this looks to be a later Renault-Alpine car.

Ah fair enough, im looking on my phone. If the car pre dates Renault ownership then that surely still makes it more Alpine than Renault?

Definitely Renault Alpine A310 V6. By this time, Alpine were fully owned by la Regie. The previous model, the lovely A110, was an Alpine Renault. The 4 cylinder A310 was also an Alpine Renault, but not long after it got the V6 it was Renault Alpine.

For some time I ran it with no badges at all, and virtually no-one here (NZ) knew what it was or ever guessed it was French. Even with the badges and sticker across the back, some people still ask "is that really a Renault"?

Edited: Just looking in my book, it appear the switch around came with the Series 2 A310V6 around 1980. This one (mine) is an '83 model year.

No. I'm too old to pay attention to little details.

Not really the point/thrust of the thread, the model is meant to be the same.

I don’t think so to be fair. Doesn’t need to be model specific; in fact the 944 photo here is a perfect example of a classic being dwarfed by a couple of moderns.

There isn’t really a modern Porsche equivalent to the 944 anyway.
