Oh dear....looks like Mr Alan is another of narcissistic keyboard jockeys who has nothing better to do than to memorise every post of every hour of every day. How long did it take you to find that? And what has you comment acheived?

I, like many others, don't pretend to be the oracle of engineering... I simply asked and am asking for help.

I bought the car with a belief, as it states in the e bay ad, that with a little tlc she could run. I wasn't to know that all of this would happen!

I'll tell you another thing ALAN, that had I listened to a naysayer like you, who was another guy who sat there every minute WXNKIN over others misfortunes and childishly saying "told you so" I wouldn't have restored
something (that I knew nothing about) to what some say is perfection (not me) watched by an audience of 4 million on the telly.....
So in other words Alsn, your a cxnt who can Fock off. I will not respond to any further posts from you as your a nonentity. Go and get a life

He didn't find it. You could at least pick a fight with the right person. If you think what you're getting here is harsh, you're going to get a bit of a wakeup call if you venture further afield online. Pistonheads can be a harsh place, but believe me, what you're seeing here really isn't that bad.

You bought someone else's total lashup of an unfinished project without looking at it properly first, and it turned out to be a disaster. It's fine, we've all done it, it's part of the game. This is a pretty spectacular example from the sounds of it, though.

You asked people for advice, and the main responses are to either sell it or break it for parts. They're probably right.

The number plate makes things interesting if you want to keep it, though. If my understanding is correct, while the car may not need an MOT to be driven on the road, you do need the car MOT'd to get the plate off it. I'm sure someone will correct me (with citation of references) if that's not true, but assuming it is, it complicates matters a little should you wish to transfer it.

Your fastest option to get it "working" in something like a safe manner may be a basic supplemental chassis or subframes to attach the Jaguar suspension to, which then attaches to the main chassis. But that's a lot easier to say than to conjour up, especially without seeing how everything's been hacked about to get to where it is at present.

Alan, apologies to you. I obviously over reacted to your earlier post. I mis read the message.

All taken on board with the advice given from many sources.

As much as I hate giving up on what I consider to be a worthwhile project, I will bow gracefully (and slightly disgracefully) out of this one!

Thanks a lot.......I won't react to you calling me names, incorrectly of course as I didn't find your original post in the first place, I only read it. Rather an over reaction for quite good advice. Take it or not. Your money your choice but clearly you are out of your depth

If you put £1000 cash in the car and burnt it out, you'd probably be up money.

Get rid.

Hi guys,

Thank you all for your input.

Oh dear, I've really fxxked up on this one!

I paid £1250.00.... It's not all doom and gloom there are the parts/transferable plate.

BUT she could be a contender?

Aaagh. I'm in great pain. I could see her now with classic styling and rid elements

Here's a link to the e bay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201799519062

There were two for sale....read the ad and see what you think.

Mark
Hang on, what's going on here?

The ad is for two cars, at £8500, one a runner, the other - the one with the Jag parts - not a runner, and declared as a spares car.

So what are doing, Mark Parrotface? You have a nice runner, I hope, the first, and are trying to make one of the second, a complete dud, while making out here as a naive and badly done by booby. Are you in fact a bit more canny than that?

It sounds like the report agrees with the description in the ad, tbh.

Neighbour of mine's restoring a Sheerline at the moment. The chassis and mechanicals are the easy bit - just big meccano. The bodyshell... Well, let's just say that Austin didn't really seem to have much of a clue about avoiding water traps in spot-welded semi-stressed pressed-steel bodyshells back then. His only spent a handful of years on the road, then sat in a dry barn. It's bloody solid, really, but there's a myriad of fiddly "what-were-they-thinking" corners that need a hell of a lot of taking-apart to get a blindingly obvious rust trap sorted. Like you, his previous involves wood frames (pre-war stuff), and the body is coming as a bit of a learning curve, I think.

That's one of the reasons that drew me to the car, a lot of wood incorporated into it- beautiful craftsmanship.

I've contacted the guy who did the report to ask if there are ways and means around certain parts....temporarily, that could be revisited at a later stage. I'd hate to see this scrapped as there are only 16 of this type left. If it is beyond my means, then I'll 99p it on e bay.
