Lancia Beta Volumex
Discussion
I have only once started the engine on the HPE IE donor car that I have. It seemed smoother than a smooth thing being smooth on Internatonal Smoothness Day, and, as you say, freer to rev than the supercharged version. The carburated 2000 on the Spyder that I used to have was very free revving too, but prone to being a bit lumpy at the bottom end of the rev range.
From a purely analytical viewpoint the ie is by far the best beta, but the driving experience from the vx is unsurpassed my idea is that by adding a hotter inlet cam the ability to rev will improve and the extra boost from the smaller blower pulley will compensate for the reduced low end torque.......fingers crossed but I am probably just being daft and over optimistic.
As regards interior I think the later cars are terminally bland the early brown dash cars with the over styled seats and mad colours are far more interesting. All this caution is how we ended up with a world full of grey and black cars yawn........

I can remember when t' whole internet were just fields.
I think the Volumex and carb set up is a blow through, but I is iggerant and the books are somewhere where I am too lazy to fetch them.
I agree that the early Beta seats and dashes were loadsa fun and the interior of a late Beta is not nearly as zappy as it should be.
I blame the Germans for inflicting horrid car interiors on the world. At least my 156 has crazy tan seats and door cards with light grey carpets and black bits. Sounds daft, looks rubbish in a photo (viz), looks good in real life.

Our crappler delta is black leather soooo boring! in Europe they were available in beige leather as well but never seen it in a UK one even though it was in the brochure, although they sold so few of them anyway that they are a rare sight on the road, it's that embarrassing chrysler badge that does it.I think the Volumex and carb set up is a blow through, but I is iggerant and the books are somewhere where I am too lazy to fetch them.

It looks like a good buy, but to my eyes the silver seems a bland colour on the car. Possibly looks better in the metal.
These two are interesting old Italoheaps. One said to be straight, one a bitser:

I always think a dark blue with a tan or beige interior works really well. The mid blue and mustard combo of that early HPE that was on sale recently was pretty mega, I thought. On a different colour combo, look at this crazy but groovy interior on a spiffy Ozzie Alfa.http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C475337
An Italian man can wear a blue suit with brown shoes. If I were to do that I'd look like a knob! My Interceptor (Brit, but in an Italian suit) was blue over beige, and that worked well. Black leather is dullsville, I think.

The black 127 sport is a rare thing now, if it was 2K id buy it, but the owner doesnt want any offers, as he robustly states in his ad These two are interesting old Italoheaps. One said to be straight, one a bitser:

I think that the dude is asking a lot for a car that is a bit of a lash up of two cars into one.
The Irish one might be a better bet, but again the asking price looks high, especially as the paint is very dull.
I prefer the groovy interior of the black one to the slightly more staid interior of the red car.

I blame the twonk who first came up with colour-coordinated seatbelts; that's when the rot set in. S/he may have been a German to boot - I have no idea.Lowtimer said:
This is usually the point where I make the headache worse by going:
May I just say that that is the gear knob that looks most like an actual German's cock (er....) that I have ever seen. I wonder if the ghost of Ferdy Porsche modelled it on his pal Hitler's schlong, or something. Does this explain why a heap thus, er, equipped might pull to one side under braking?
