Spa6 2009: various snaps

Dink on the GT40's having a different spec to the rest of the 289 runners (Griff's Cobras, Mustang, etc), I found a really old book outlining the specs of period cars from about 65 to 69 and yes the 65 GT40's had differently homologated engines. Main difference was they were allowed to run alloy heads. And it states that the iron heads were a Major stumbling block on getting 289 race reliable.
It has the GT40 down as 412bhp! at 6500rpm - I bet you could add almost 100 to that number nowm even building the engines to the letter of the regs.
Huge advantange these things have over the all iron Fords and even bigger one in the chassis too!
They should have been winning the 6 hours 10 or 15 years back almost every year when you think about it!

Wowzers Jon, good work old chap.
Makes you think the Ford GTs as seen can indeed rev 7K plus with the ally heads. The Roadster must be an older car me thinks: goes like the clappers just the same. We must tour du paddock this year and check stuff out Jon. Are you coming again?
